Falling From A Bridge
During these days I've had several opportunities to watch Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ." I kept wondering where he got the idea that the temple soldiers hit Jesus so hard that this latter fell down from a bridge. It is actually a modified version of one of the visions of Catherine...

Rewriting the Gospel: The Greatest Story Ever Told
In a previous blog, I have shown how a scene in the TV movie "Jesus of Nazareth" rewrites the gospel of Luke and provides us with an interpretation of the some themes found in the same gospel. In the film "The Greatest Story Ever Told" the same rewriting is also obvious. One of the highlights of...

Retelling A Gospel Story
I bought the CDs of Franco Zeffirelli's "Jesus of Nazareth" as part of my Lenten viewing. In addition, I was hoping to use a picture from the movie in one of the presentations I am preparing for a seminar workshop, but I found something more interesting: the way the movie "re-writes" Luke's account...

Finally, After A Year... Narnia!
Finally, I was able to watch the movie! It was shown a couple of times on cable just before Christmas but I wasn't able to see it then. It was during the Christmas break that I was able to see movie in an "8-in-1" (eight movies in just one disk) DVD that I acquired. I haven't read the C. S. Lewis...

Narnia: I'm Still Waiting!
Narnia opened in theaters near the place where we live on January 8. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find a nice free time when I can go to see it. Has anyone here seen the movie? Does it do justice to the book? I guess the last question is stupid since a movie should not be judged by its book. They...

I Saw KONG
It was a spectacular movie, thanks to CGI. Perhaps that was the only thing that is helping it get a lion's share of the box office. That,.. and the children. The fight scenes with the dinosaurs were well made. The growth of the relationship between Kong and Anne Darrow was well developed, more so...

Narnia: Christian or Not?
Christian fundamentalist: It is Christian! C. S. Lewis was a Christian who wrote "The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe" as a gospel metaphor! Liberal Movie Critic: It is not! It is just a story about good and evil. Andrew Greeley... The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" is a new film based on the...

King Kong Again?
Looks like the Big Ape is getting the most celluloid remakes. When it was remade using a 50-foot robot with Jessica Lange playing the Kong-girl, it was a hit in Manila. People from all ages came. I didn't like the ending though: there was no redemption for Kong. By the way, the sequel showing Kong...

The Exorcism of Emily Rose
Here is an interesting review of a movie I have yet to see: What is fascinating about "The Exorcism of Emily Rose" is that it asks a secular institution, the court, to decide a question that hinges on matters the court cannot have an opinion on. Either Emily was possessed by a demon and Father Moore...

I didn't know...
EWTN, is in a financial mess, and I read about it only today. It is my favorite cable network. It would be a bad thing if it goes down. Read about it here.
