Safari so good.

Just dropped in to let people know things are going well. The money is slowly coming in, and although we have been served some real curveballs, we are pulling through. I hope other people are doing well too. Hopefully, we will have a vaccine rolled out by the spring in the UK. Although the commercial world has been dealt a death blow here. Many places will never recover. The knock-on effect on the 3rd world will be horrible. We live in a symbiotic world now. No matter how bad things get, the S&P... Sign in to see full entry.

Stamps

We have been given a very old Stamp collection, and I'm hoping to find out the value of them. Looking briefly at eBay, I,m confident they are a hope for the future. It might take me years to get the real value, but I look at it as a pension investment. Sign in to see full entry.

Bank Trouble.

Have you ever noticed that one thing goes wrong with your bank, and your world falls apart? I transferred some money over from Paypal to Lloyds (UK) and all went well. Then the bank decided that this was a direct debit and transferred the money back! I panicked and let the worry overwhelm me, but got it all sorted in the end. One little thing and your world falls apart. Sign in to see full entry.

back in the swing

I am more than pleased that people are actually reading the things I write. I wanted to re-open this account as a way of getting me back into writing articles. But I still lack the confidence to think I can compete in the big world. Just being able to write about the first thing that comes into your head, is a little different. When blogging first started many writers became very popular. Most just turned to Youtube, because it's easy. The trouble is that you end up having to feed the beast. If... The 1920s

Have you ever noticed just how influential the 1920s were on modern history? Every book or film I have ever watched has been influenced by that time. If not, then people refer to the fact that it was before the 1920s. Sure, none of this would matter if not for the first world war. But all the big influences came after the war and little happened during it. Aircraft production was advanced in WW1 but they wanted the good old thumpers like the SE5 and Sopwith pup. The Gloster Bulldog and Gladiator... Sign in to see full entry.

Floods of 1641

This is a picture of our valley with the village of Tinwell in the bottom. The flood came up to the tops of these hills. 1641 was at the start of the English Civil War. Sign in to see full entry.

Gloom Here in the UK, we are heading for gloomy times. What with the Covid and the re-introduction of a massive lock-down, I can see a dark and miserable winter ahead. What's more, the rain has set in all day. Record rainfall for the last month, but it could be worse. I've read that in 1880 there was a really bad flood which flooded the local and town and surrounding villages. But someone posted a record of a local scholar writing about an even worse flood. In 1641 the river rose so high is... Sign in to see full entry.

Re-build

Could you rebuild a version of yourself from your Blogit entries? I've been here a while and I've written diaries for years. Some going back to the mid-'70s. But if I read back through them, I wonder if I could ever build a version of ME in the future, based on the person that would come over from those pages? What's more, would I want to? When I read back through those pages, I wonder if I even Like that version of me. So arrogant and selfish. Would you ever befriend a person like that? That... Sign in to see full entry.

Back in time.

If you had to rebuild a version of yourself in the future, where would you start? The most obvious is to go back in time and take a look at the old you. You could stand back and say: "Yes, that was me. That's where I was at!" We might fondly think that we could recover the old "You" from what had gone on before. Surely the essence of what you were could be recovered from the evidence of who you were and how you thought? There may very well be pieces of you that were best left behind. Who would...
