Feeling The Love

My mother-in-law's second husband, Jack, passed over yesterday. Joan, Jack's third wife, has experienced so much loss in her lifetime; her oldest child, a daughter at age 20, her youngest, a son at age 48, her first husband, her youngest sister, and now her second husband. They would have celebrated their 13th Anniversary this very day, May 15. Tomorrow would have been his 87th birthday. He used to joke and say that marriage had really aged him. He was a year older just a day later! His passing... Sign in to see full entry.

Psalm 23 (for work)

Psalm 23 (for work) The Lord is my real boss, and I shall not want. He gives me peace, when chaos is all around me. He gently reminds me to pray and do all things without murmuring and complaining. He reminds me that he is my source and not my job. He restores my sanity everyday and guides my decisions that I might honor him in all that I do. Even though I face absurd amounts of e-mails, system crashes, unrealistic deadlines, budget cutbacks, gossiping co-workers, discriminating supervisors and... Sign in to see full entry.

The Stone 'n Me

Some stories I write seem to fly off my fingers. I was having trouble getting James’s story on paper and tell about this latest message from him. I would write the tale and then do a major rewrite. I must have done that ten times because I wanted it to be accurate. I wanted it to be honest. When I thought I had it just right, I asked my daughter to read it. Most of the writing I hand to her for input, she puts aside to read later and never gets to it. She read this piece right away since she had... Sign in to see full entry.

Mary's Stone

Mary remembers James as the cute 4-year-old cherub that he was, laughing and cheerful. She imagines him sitting on a cloud and laughing and waving at her as he floats by. The story of her communication with James and the stone they left Julie wasn't Mary's first encounter with a stone, either. This is a continuation of the email she wrote to Julie: From Mary to Julie: To lend credibility to this, let me tell of something that happened about four years ago. I went to a retreat at a Catholic nuns... Sign in to see full entry.

"The First Stone"

James had some kind of "thing" for stones, it would appear. Just note who is posing for my husband and who is busy looking for stones! From top to bottom: The "Dad," Kyle his brother, Michael Julie's brother, Uncle Rob the oldest brother, John, James, diligently looking for stones Julie received an email from a person at work who she knew more on the level of a professional acquaintance. What she was to read just added to the mystique surrounding the death of her four-year-old little boy, James.... Sign in to see full entry.

“I Saw Where He Went”

Four-year-old James talked of his own death for six weeks to everyone and anyone who would listen. He talked about how he was going to go to Heaven on Saturday. He was going to fly and fly with the blue Angels in the blue sky and live by a big blue lake. He was going to live on a farm and the barn was blue and so were all the farm animals. He was excited by the prospect, just like he was going to the circus or a carnival! He was in Children's Mercy in Kansas City, the best children’s hospital in... Sign in to see full entry.

"Our Very Own Spirit Whisperer"

"Don't be sad, Mommie, please." Photography by H Jay Carey (special effect is watercolor Photoshop) “Our Very Own Spirit Whisperer” My daughter, Stephanie, came home from the Psychic Fair and pulled a chair up next to mine at the table, where I was stamping a birthday card for her Godmother, Julie. I told her that Julie’s birthday was coming up on May 1. She told me she had some astonishing news concerning Julie’s son, James. Stephanie’s future mother-in-law, Melinda, had several messages to... "What's Richer Than a Smile?"

A smile costs nothing, but gives much. It enriches those who receive, without making poorer those who give. It takes but a moment, but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever. None is so rich or mighty that he can get along without it, and none is so poor but that he can be made rich by it. A smile creates happiness in the home, fosters good will in business, and is the countersign of friendship. It brings rest to the weary, cheer to the discouraged, sunshine to the sad, and is nature's best... Sign in to see full entry.

Signs, Signs, Everywhere Are Signs

I was catching up on my blog-reading this morning. I like to follow the life of Passionflower, and see what she’s up to. I had really fallen behind as she has had many adventures. Around April 10, one of her posts was about whether God ever speaks to you. It told her poignant story of how she had turned her back on Him, and how she'd been so lost without Him. She is back in her relationship with God and Jesus now. She had 37 responses to this post, so positive and affirming! What wonderful... Sign in to see full entry.

We Are Not Alone

I just read this wonderfully positive story on a different website and thought it should be shared. Where pets fit in on the other side have always been a mystery to me. My daughter says they are waiting for us, all of them that we've ever had and that we'll remember all of their names when the ime comes. Our pets reflect God's pure love for us. That animals ever suffer abuse illustrates that there are people out there living without love in their own hearts for themselves. One thing I have read... Sign in to see full entry.

God Knows

God or in this case, twangs of the Goddess, knew how to distract me from grieving and engage me in something else. In this case, a male chauvinist jumped out from 'neath his bridge and started dumping slurs against me and all of womankind unless you are pregnant with 25 kids and under your husband's financial, uh, control/charity/contribution/whatever it's called. I was never so lucky. My husband was a journalist. Journalists were jealous of teacher's salaries. The income from both of our... Sign in to see full entry.

A Bringer of Light

Here is a little passage from CWG #2: Cause your days and nights to be reflections of the highest idea within you. Allow your moments of now to be filled with the spectacular ecstasy of God made manifest through you. Do it through the expression of your Love, eternal and non-conditional, for all whose lives you touch. Be a light unto the darkness, and curse it not. Be a bringer of the light. You are that. So be it. Experiment if this is something that doesn't come naturally. Ask the person who... Sign in to see full entry.

A Prayer for Friends

Such friends I have here, by name only, most of you. Thank you for being here when I need an understanding word or picticon!! This prayer is for all my friends here! Please God, put your arms around my shoulders and your hand over my mouth. "Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away." Many people will walk in and out of your life. But only true friends will leave footprints in your heart. To handle yourself, use your head; To handle others, use... Sign in to see full entry.

Lifetime Lessons

The Prayer concludes with profundity: "LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons, things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life. It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant. Thank you for being a part of my life, whether you were a reason, a season or a lifetime." I find this profound because of what happened.... Sign in to see full entry.

"People Come Into Your Life For a Season"

"Some people come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has come to share, grow or learn. They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it, it is real. But only for a season!"...and so continues the prayer... I've known several people like this. I've called them mentors or my 'teaching angels,' because they taught me things about myself that deep inside I already... Sign in to see full entry.

Time to Move On

"People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person. When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on... Sign in to see full entry.

God, Keep Your Hand Over My Mouth

A Daily Prayer sent to me over the Internet started out with: "Please God, put your arms around my shoulders and your hand over my mouth." I stopped right there and thought of how many times I've "argued" with God, trying to bend the situation at hand to my will, and not accepting what obviously is a conflict in my life. When I keep my mouth shut and listen to what God is trying to tell me and open my eyes to what He's obviously trying to get me to see, my day goes a lot better. Sometimes my...
