The Growing Season Isn't Over

If it's a good idea, go ahead and do it. It is much easier to apologize than it is to get permission. Grace Murray Hopper ~Wild Chrysanthemums~ I didn't write this story but it is a reflection of my beliefs. You are never too old to start running marathons, publish your writing, or fall in love again. The Growing Season Isn't Over I was seated in the doctor's office, waiting to get some lab work done. It was early morning, and they had just turned on the TV in the far corner of the room. A very... Sign in to see full entry.

God DOES Answer Prayers!

I got a call from my husband, Jay, today saying, "You won't believe what just happened!" I answered, "You sold the building for more than the asking price?" "No," he answered. "Maj. so'n'so called and they want me to do the yearbook again this year (starting in under two weeks.)" Fort Leavenworth has a Command and General Staff College and has a new class every year. The class chooses the yearbook photographer each year, based on previous years and who knows what all. The fact that it is loosely... Sign in to see full entry.

How Do YOU Pray?

As I read this article about a man, a writer, recalling his youth, growing up with "disabled" parents, I thought of my own life. My children grew up only knowing a mother who had Parkinson's Disease (PD). They didn't know what I was like before they were born. They grew up with a disabled parent. That would not have been my choice, but what it was, was. How do I want them to remember their mother? I want my children to remember me as that race horse who chomps at the bit, who whinnies when... ASK!

I always run across these stories after commenting on their subject matter. I had just read a blog on asking God for what you need and have faith; He will fulfill whatever you ask for. I had commented, "Ask and you shall receive." This story gave me chills. Gas Station Guardians By Joan Wester Anderson Thirty-one-year-old Gerald Heffington was the manager of a gas station located in the small town of Morganfield, Kentucky. It was a rather rough section of town. Every night at closing time, his... Sign in to see full entry.

What's It All About

God sends us love in its purest form when he send us little pets who love us and allow us to love them. Our daughter's pediatric allergist suggested that we replace our cat with a bunny! Grandma took my 15+ year old cat in to live with her (while I cried) and we tried out the bunny route. The young rabbit and my daughter never quite clicked like our kitty. Bunnies don't purr. We went to the little pet store in town and bought our bunny when he was still a wee lad. He was gray and white and his... Sign in to see full entry.

It Seems Too Easy

When I expanded my belief margins, freed myself of the religionist's dogma, God showed me the simple way to reach Him/Her*. Open your mind. He will come. (I will refer to God as Him for the entire post.) Simply put, I have found my truth, my spirituality. God said we are here in this plane of existence to experience life, and that's it. There is no wrong or right way to experience life. There is no wrath of God; no lightning bolts aimed at our heads lest we make an error in judgement. He wants... Sign in to see full entry.

Synergy

I just read Factor Fiction's post she wrote about mass prayers effecting change. Indeed it is true. Thoughts are objects. We've been taught to believe they are abstract. i.e., "Mind readers use tricks; there's no such thing. They are just clever guessers. They know how to ask the right questions." Skeptics abound in their theories. There is no paranormal event or other such nonsense........ Those poor people have closed their minds to what the mind CAN do. We've been given a tool, a source of... Sign in to see full entry.

Don't Be Afraid

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So, throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore, dream, discover!" ~ Mark Twain ~ Sign in to see full entry.

The Lost Was Found

I wasn't sure if this should be a Parkinson's blog or a spiritual one, but I am opting for the latter because what happened was just outright mystical! I had lost MONDAY this time. I was filling pill compartments and the Monday's pillbox was missing. In fact, I had borrowed ahead one day. It was Tuesday and I was finished with Wednesday's pills, so there I was filling the pills a day early and a day short. I asked Jay if he'd seen it lying around? I'd looked for it several times for a couple of... Sign in to see full entry.

Robert's Friend, Kenny, Knew

This is Kenny, escorting Candace's mother down the aisle after the wedding. Her father's head is just visible over Kenny's shoulder. He was such a nice young man. On 9/11/01, he called his mother on his cell phone, said he smelled something like fuel and that there was a horrific fire. He was on floor 106 (I think.) He told her this was it, he wasn't making it out, and that he looked forward to going to heaven, knowing what a beautiful place awaited him there. He said, "I love you, Mom." The... Who Are You?

Wise Words "Every decision you make -- every decision -- is not a decision about what to do. It's a decision about Who You Are. When you see this, when you understand it, everything changes. You begin to see life in a new way. All events, occurrences, and situations turn into opportunities to do what you came here to do. " ~ Neale Donald Walsch, Author ~ Sign in to see full entry.

Do You Accept Life's Burdens?

One of my responses to a comment begs me ask the question: Do you accept what life brings you? How much choice to we have when it comes to controlling what happens to us? When I was around 12 years old, someone gave be a placque with the Serenity Prayer. If you go to AA, this is something you know by heart: God grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, and Wisdom to know the difference. I took this prayer to heart at an early age. It does no... Sign in to see full entry.

He Touched Me

He Touched me and made me whole! If I could still sing, I'd be singing this song at the top of my lungs, which are just fine, as are my ribs! That little voice I didn't quite trust was my fear voice after all. Jay walked into the little waiting room where you wait for the doctor. He sniffed the air and asked the nurse if she was cooking something. She said she was heating up the rice bag to put on my back. Jay and I looked at each other and took a big sigh of relief. My doctor (GP) did her... Sign in to see full entry.

I Leave the Diagnosis in HIS Hands

The other day, while reading Wiley’s Blog, he said he was turning over all his burdens concerning Hydro One over to God, which is a very healthy prayer. It’s surrendering yourself to God so that He may take the burdens from you that may be a bit harder. Some never experience the liberation of God’s intervention. It is quite a heady feeling. A calmness settles over you that makes you feel like you’re floating. I swear I could feel the hand of God carress the nape of my neck. I have had this... Sign in to see full entry.

How will you face Death?

One of my on-line friends from back in my posting days about the Young and Restless of ten years ago, who herself is in rotten health, having been on hospice care several times already, wrote this: Wanted to share this with everyone. Some of us online are dealing with the very advanced recurrence cancer of one of our dearest online friends. Lisa and I have been like sisters for almost ten years. I could not love her more than she if we were blood sisters, yet we have never met. We have met by... Sign in to see full entry.

One Small Gesture

I am sharing this story that I just received from a friend I made on Blogit who no longer blogs. I was touched by this story. It reminded me of my chicken pecking story (my Ceeson for Haiku blog). One day, when I was a freshman in high school, I saw a kid from my class was walking home from school. His name was Kyle. It looked like he was carrying all of his books. I thought to myself, "Why would anyone bring home all his books on a Friday? He must really be a nerd." I had quite a weekend... Sign in to see full entry.

That's Why I’m Here

I am sharing this story with you. I didn't write it, but wish I could say that I did. Nourishment, for the "Garden in Your Mind" That's Why I’m Here by ~ Loretta Emmons ~ My children have always been involved in 4-H. Heavily into the animal divisions, with a few other projects, they took their county fair presentations very seriously. I was a professional dog trainer and handler and one year, my two youngest children entered our registered dogs in the Beginner Obedience class. My... Sign in to see full entry.

God Promises Strength

A friend of mine used this as a signature line. It's a keeper, one I could cut out and hang behind my monitor screen. God didn't promise days without pain, Laughter without sorrow, nor sun without rain, but God did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears, and light for the way. I need God's strength right now. My uncle died yesterday morning. It was a peaceful passing. I'm sure his son who went before him, was there to help guide the way, closely attended to by my mother who went 11... Sign in to see full entry.
