What a Dad!

Tears rolled down my cheeks as I watched the video following this story. This goes to show that God will never give you more of a burden than you can bear. Strongest Dad in the World [From Sports Illustrated, By Rick Reilly] I try to be a good father. Give my kids mulligans. Work nights to pay for their text messaging. Take them to swimsuit shoots. But compared with Dick Hoyt, I suck. Eighty-five times he's pushed his disabled son, Rick, 26.2 miles in marathons. Eight times he's not only pushed... Sign in to see full entry.

Where's Your Solid Rock?

The Lord does speak to me in verse, usually a song from any one of various genres. Today it was a hymn, sent to answer for a panic I have caused in another blogger. When wondering what I should say, the first line kept singing through my brain,"My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus blood and righteousness......." I got out my hymnal and tried looking it up. I had the first few words wrong, (I kept singing "My faith is built...) I started searching the web and found just the perfect story... I'm in His Hands! Glory!!

The battery which controls the left side of my body may be dying. It just went out two days ago when my fingers on my left hand were straight and would not bend. I noticed because I was typing away at the keyboard. Last night my left hand just tremored. I was still "turned on" but I wonder if the power is weak and running out. I'm getting a lot of tingling in that hand. I am having it 'emergency checked ' today by my programmer this morning at KUMC. She thought it would hold out 'till... Sign in to see full entry.

My Daily Spirit Regime

Pray daily. Heal daily. Love daily. Praise daily. His/Her will be done. Cause your days and nights to be reflections of the highest idea within you. Allow your moments of now to be filled with the spectacular ecstasy of God made manifest through you. Do it through the expression of your Love, eternal and non-conditional, for all whose lives you touch. Be a light unto the darkness, and curse it not. Be a bringer of the light. Be a first-smiler. You are that. So be it. People come into your life... Sign in to see full entry.

The Infusion Has Begun!

The Divine Love of His holy presence has taken me over tonight. I left myself wide open for it and ka-pow! It HIT me! Like a special vodka which has been infused to make the perfect Cosmo, this infusion needs no spirits of the alcoholic kind! I'm talking about the Holy Spirit. That is what’s making me feel high as a kite! As I listen to the song, "His Eye is On the Sparrow," I KNOW He is watching over us all and will welcome us home someday with love and open arms. He watches the least of us. He... Sign in to see full entry.

When You Came Into This World

I was overcome with the feelings I had surrounding the birth of our first child. Jay took this picture just moments following her birth. Children are little people God chooses for us to raise. It is an awesome task. We are parents for life. Cee When you came into this world, I could hardly wait to see, This new and precious little life, God had entrusted me. When you came into this world, Two weeks ‘fore you were due, The clouds were heavy with the snow Each flake unique like you. When you came... Sign in to see full entry.

He is Here. Amen!

These inspirational words come from the chorus of a favorite song: He is here, Hallelujah. He is here, Amen. He is here, holy holy, I will bless His name again, He is here, listen closely, hear Him calling out your name, He is here, you can touch Him, you will never be the same." I had such a joy seeing someone experience what happens when you answer the call, so to speak, when you hear Him call your name. I have lost touch with him but trust that all has gone well and the fire is still as... Sign in to see full entry.

A New Life Cycle?

These are not my original thoughts, but they made me think about the whole cycle of creation. I think the life cycle is all backwards. You should start out dead and get it out of the way. Then, you wake up in an old age home feeling better every day. You get kicked out for being too healthy; go collect your pension, then when you start work, you get a gold watch on your first day. You work 40 years until you're young enough to enjoy your retirement. You drink alcohol, you party, you're generally... Sign in to see full entry.

You Are Never Too Old or Too Late.........

My sister ran her first marathon at age 50. She's done some major running the last ten years; Boston, NYC, LA (cough, cough), New Zealand (the Millennium run), Czech Republic, Paris, London, and the Great Wall of China. She's training for a 10K run in Maryland this month. She'll be 62 in September and looks fabulous! Consider This: After Fred Astaire’s first screen test, the memo from the testing director of MGM, dated 1933, said, "Can’t act! Slightly Bald! Can dance a little!" Astaire kept that... Where Are You?

Do you know where you are going? Take this Quiz to lighten your load today. Let me know if you figured it out. You are driving in a car at a constant speed. On your left side is a valley and on your right side, a fire engine traveling at the same speed as you. In front of you is a galloping pig which is the same size as your car and you cannot overtake it. Behind you is a helicopter flying at ground level. Both the giant pig and the helicopter are also traveling at the same speed as you. What... Sign in to see full entry.

Roaches Anyone?

I was searching the sites of YPunday for a poem she had recommended, "Who Made Thee." I got sidetracked by an article she wrote on roaches. Now while I consider myself a very flexible and tolerant person, I somehow have not advanced beyond what seems to be a basal human reaction to ….(ugh), roaches. I can smash little brown ones with impunity, but the kind that grow giant exoskeletons so that you can hear them scuttling around creep me out totally!! Why DID God make these creatures? To keep... My Every Day

I read this poem while cruising the web and loved the ultimate question. I took exception with a couple of points, so I rewrote MY version of this, immediately following. “The Summer Day” by Mary Oliver Who made the world? Who made the swan, and the black bear? Who made the grasshopper? This grasshopper, I mean – the one who has flung herself out of the grass, the one who is eating sugar out of my hand, who is moving her jaws back and forth instead of up and down – who is gazing around with her... Roots Run Deep

I am home. There’s no place like home.* This is where my roots are. My family has scattered all over hte U.S. but they are pulled to Kansas, the heartland, by roots that run deep. The farm has been sold. Our youngest brother was left the guardian of our heritage, our roots, but he let meth do his thinking. Thus, not thinking it could ever happen to him, he lost it all, including his freedom. Of the five siblings, I alone remain in Kansas. My grandnephew has decided to make this his home and is... Time Enough

I have been on my second vacation basing out of Brookline, MA. and spending time in P-Town, Martha's Vineyard, and Portsmouth, ME. I am home, catching up with real life. I just read this interesting e-mail that was shared with me today. Wow, what a message this brings. It is what I need to keep in mind every single day; i.e., HOW to treat the day. Today's Daily Word - Tuesday, July 18, 2006 Time Enough I live in the present moment, knowing there is time enough to do all that is mine to do.... Sign in to see full entry.

Miles

Ahh, you'll enjoy this one. On the More Positive Side of Life Nourishment, for the "Garden in Your Mind" Miles One day, about eight years ago, in the departure lounge of a flight from New York's LaGuardia airport to O'Hare in Chicago, I spotted a young boy in tears and obvious emotional distress. His mother at his side also appeared upset. Being a parent, I was naturally curious if I could be of assistance. As it turned out, the flight was full, and they couldn't sit together. The boy was...
