Loose Pitbulls, Loose Canons!

The day before I had been looking at one of the baby birds peeping it's head out of its nest. Its parents, swallows, had managed to build their nest atop our outdoor Bose speaker that is over the entry door to our photography studio/gallery. As I gazed at the baby looking over the edge, I swear I could see little eyelashes just like the old black and white cartoons. The next morning, the little baby was found on the ground beneath the nest, dead. That was sad enough news. The worst was yet to... Sign in to see full entry.

What Goes Around Comes Around

This is such a great story: I had to pass it around.... What goes around comes around... He almost didn't see the old lady, stranded on the side of the road, but even in the dim light of day, he could see she needed help. So he pulled up in front of her Mercedes and got out. His Pontiac was still sputtering when he approached her. Even with the smile on his face, she was worried. No one had stopped to help for the last hour or so. Was he going to hurt her? He didn't look safe; he looked poor and... Sign in to see full entry.

"Snake!"

A view of the lake from the enclosed porch Be still and hear God. (Or as scripture says, "Be still and know that I am God.") There is a lovely hymn with this message, based in scripture. He often times speaks to me through song lyrics of all kinds. Last week, however, he made his voice be heard to me in one loud word. "SNAKE!" While I have often said that God speaks to me in lyrics, he shouted at me on vacation last week. It was the last night at my brother's lake house at Lake Sam Rayburn in SE... The Whale

I'm sharing a wonderful story sent to me by an old friend. It will touch you. If you read the front page story of the SF Chronicle, you would have read about a female humpback whale who had become entangled in a spider web of crab traps and lines. She was weighted down by hundreds of pounds of traps that caused her to struggle to stay afloat. She also had hundreds of yards of line rope wrapped around her body, her tail, her torso, a line tugging in her mouth. A fisherman spotted her just east of... Sign in to see full entry.

Butterfly Love

I am back for a couple of weeks before my next journey. I just read this inspirational story and decided to share it with you. On the More Positive Side of Life Nourishment, for the "Garden in Your Mind" The Attacking Butterfly Walking down a path through some woods in Georgia, I saw a water puddle ahead on the path. I angled my direction to go around it on the part of the path that wasn't covered by water and mud. As I reached the puddle, I was suddenly attacked! Yet I did nothing for the... "A Sign?"

I will let you in on a secret. The first three months they started this national prescription coverage, Medicare Part D, everyone from the top on down was in a dither. No one seemed to know what was going on, how to charge, even where the Medicare Part D insurance cards were. I have yet to receive any card! I was charged a co-pay of zero dollars for three whole months. No word about how or why. I never made a co-pay until April. April and May have seen me use up the minimum and put me in the... "Things aren't always what they seem"

Another good story from another Internet friend: Two traveling angels stopped to spend the night in the home of a wealthy family. The family was rude and refused to let the angels stay in the mansion's guest room. Instead the angels were given a small space in the cold basement. As they made their bed on the hard floor, the older angel saw a hole in the wall and repaired it. When the younger angel asked why, the older angel replied, "Things aren't always what they seem." The next night the pair... Sign in to see full entry.

God Still Talks to Us

I know this has been around the mill a while, but if you haven't read it recently, you'll enjoy this. Listen to those God voices. He comes to us every day. It may be in just a feeling you have.....you'll see...... This will give you the chills........GOOD chills. A young man had been to Wednesday night Bible Study. The Pastor had shared about listening to God and obeying the Lord's voice. The young man couldn't help but wonder, "Does God still speak to people?" After service he went out with... The Open Door

(recounted to me by a friend) An interesting thing just happened. I went up to feed the cat. At some point I noticed the little cabinet door open next to the dishwasher. I closed it, thinking about Lauren and how she always leaves doors open. I flashed back to a conversation we’d had the night before. I reminded her to please turn off the lights before bed. She guessed that it was to save electricity. Well, I said, that’s part of it but there’s really something else that’s more important. She... Sign in to see full entry.

"The Phog" part 3

"The Phog" Part 3 Reality check. 'You're new here, aren't you?" I hear from across the room. I come out of my reverie, straighten up, trying to wipe this quirky little smile from my face. I nod yes. The man across the way, sitting on a couch with his friend, continues on to tell me that he's been undergoing chemo and radiation since Jan. 2001. His friend, wearing overalls, comments that all chemo ever did for him in the same amount of time, was make him fat. I'm happy I don't have to do that,... Sign in to see full entry.

"The Phog" part 2

I see that there is another natural break in my long story of introspection, with cancer as the catalyst. I will hold the conclusion of this story until tomorrow. It took months for me to share this look at myself with anyone but Mike. Much has happened since this story popped out of me and onto paper. I have been resilient through this part of my life in spite of the heart of me which breaks a little each day when I account for loss. My friends politely avoid the subject. It is just as well. I... "The Phog" part 1

" The First Smiler's Club " first came about after I had written to my friend, Mike, about my experiences in the Cancer Treatment Center at the University of Kansas Medical Center. The title word Phog comes from an athletic hero in the history of college basketball from Kansas named Phog Allen. A banner hangs in the fieldhouse named after him which simply says, " Beware the Phog." In my neck of the state of Kansas, it is hilly and foggy. It comes up from the ground, in the dark. It's eerier,... Sign in to see full entry.

Do You Know Your Spirit Guide

(repeat of an earlier blog on Spirit Guides.) Steph tells me that because I am so "ill" (PD) although I keep it pretty contained, that Stephanie and I made a mega-mother - daughter day of it yesterday and went to TWO stamping and card workshops, ate lunch at a Chinese restaurant but there was something gluten in the rice, and we were too broke and too fat to shop very much so we went to a movie, Firewall, with Harrison Ford. Came home and ate leftover lasagna she had made me for my birthday and... Sign in to see full entry.

Davinci Code: The Big Deal?

Like many of the rest of you, I went to the movie this weekend that everyone is talking about. The Davinci Code caught my eye several years ago when it first came out as a book. I was making my way through an airport. It seemed as if every other person I saw reading a book, was reading THIS one. It took me another year to buy my own copy, on my way through an airport. By then, there were maybe half the number of people I observed reading this book with their noses buried, and mine became one of... Sign in to see full entry.

That's God

(from an e-mail that my niece said was speaking to her) I would agree to each and every one of the following and have had those GOD experiences. How about you? Have you ever been just sitting there and all of a sudden you feel like doing something nice for someone you care for? THAT'S GOD talking to you through the Holy Spirit. Have you ever been down and out and nobody seems to be around for you to talk to? THAT'S GOD wanting you to talk to Him. Have you ever been thinking about somebody that... Sign in to see full entry.

Toward All That is Unsolved in Your Heart Be Patient Try to love the Questions. Do not see the answers Which cannot be given. You would not be able to live them.
