"Mission: Get my life back" takes a nasty turn

I had my appointment with the psychologist yesterday, and left feeling more upset and on edge than I have in months. We finally finished the "fact finding" mission, so it was time for him to let me know what he'd found, and lay out his plan for helping me along the "path of recovery". That's his... Play with your food!

I love to cook, and bake. There's something very satisfying about taking a pile of raw food, and turning it into something savory and delicious. I'm no 5-star chef, but I can hold my own in a kitchen. My mother on the other hand, hates to cook. She'd scrub the house from top to bottom, mow the lawn,... Sign in to see full entry.

Pack your bags Eddie!

Well, it's official. Albertan's are heading to the polls in March! This is the first time we've had a chance to vote since Ralph left us. It was a sad day when we said goodbye to good old Ralphie. And it was made even sadder by the announcement that Ed would be taking over. Ed Stelmach (aka... Sign in to see full entry.

City Girl meets Hicksville

I've always lived in the big city. I'm one of a few residents of this place that can honestly say they were born and raised here. And I've always loved the "big city" life, or at least Alberta's version of it. Everything is close at hand. There's more movie theaters than you can shake a stick at.... Sign in to see full entry.

Mark and I had a quiet sort of day today. We cleaned the house. I worked on the puzzle while he read some automotive magazine. We watched a movie, and a video of one of our favorite stand-up comedians. It was snowing most of the day. Not enough for sledding or snowmen, and too much to ignore. So it... When I said "sharpen", I meant actually SHARPEN them!

Mark and I took our skates in to have them sharpened last week. We went to the local Sports Chek, because we were already going to stop there anyways, and it's cheap. I should have known better - any store that can't even spell "Check" correctly is probably full of idiots. I left 3 pairs of skates... Sign in to see full entry.

Thinking Happy Thoughts

I was lying in bed last night, wide awake, staring up at the ceiling, hoping and praying that I'd be able to get some sleep. I was exhausted, but my mind would not stop, racing over all the things I'd done through the day, and planning all the things I still had left to accomplish. Pondering the... Are you insane - my books are NOT for sale!

I used to have 3 bookshelves in my house. They were all quite small, and my book collection was out of control. half of the books didn't fit on the shelves, and they were scattered all over the place. So, a few months ago, I bought a new bookshelf. It's huge, eight feet tall, with 6 shelves. The... Sign in to see full entry.

It's finally starting to warm up a bit outside. We're no where near a reasonable temperature yet, but at least it's not dangerously cold today - only about -32 with the wind chill. The ambient air temperature is about -23, which isn't bad at all. Once the arctic wind calms down, we'll be good to go!... Sign in to see full entry.

Mind Numbing Cold

The city was plunged into winter overnight. Today, the temperature is a face freezing -46 degrees outside. It's too cold to snow. It's so cold in fact, that the police have issued warnings for people to stay indoors unless they absolutely have to go out. In this weather, frost bite can occur in... Sign in to see full entry.
