My critiquer stated, rather bluntly, that she felt my novel would fit nicely into the romance genre. She also suggested I add some steamy love scenes. Now, I'm all for romance novels. They're great for escapism reading. The characters are strong, easy to love, and usually dripping with sensual... Sign in to see full entry.

Family Day and Empty Nests
Today a statutory holiday for most Canadians. Family Day was created in Alberta in 1990, by our then-Premier Mr. Don Getty. It was intended to break up the monotony between Christmas and Easter, and give Canadian's a chance to spend a day with loved ones. Getty had just learned that his son was... Non-connections make for a crabby Sira
My internet hasn't been working very well this week, hence my lack of posting and/or reading. I get halfway through a post before the connection craps out again, freezing my machine and discarding all my writing. Or, it falters when I try to flip from one blog to the next, meaning I can read one,... Sign in to see full entry.

Fun with spellcheckers, mystery flyers, and unwanted politics
You'll have to forgive any spelling mistakes I may have left on comments today--the blogit spellchecker keeps giving me an error message, and then partially freezing my machine. In order to keep reading and commenting without throwing my computer through a window, I had to stop using it, and hope... Sign in to see full entry.

Could have, should have, would have...but I don't want to!
I was supposed to go to the doctor today (general practitioner, not the therapist). But I didn't. I'm supposed to get the water bottles refilled. But I don't want to. I should be working on my book, but I'm not. I meant to go to the library today, and get some books. But I don't think that's going... Sign in to see full entry.

Put a pin in it!
I went out very briefly yesterday, to pick up a prescription at the pharmacy. It's an errand that should have taken me about 5 minutes. But there was a long line. Most of the people were old--and I mean old, as in pushing 70. They were in the mood to chat. The line was going at a snails pace, each... Sign in to see full entry.

Is internet shorthand a problem? idk. wat do u think?
I play an online game called Runescape. It's very interactive, giving you the chance to play and chat with people all around the world. Most of the players are 10 to 16 years old, but there are a fair number of 20-somethings (and even a few in their 30's and 40's). I've learned a whole new language... Sign in to see full entry.

Marital Disaster Averted
My mother called me last evening. She didn't even bother to say "hi", but immediately launched into a near-hysterical stream of blubbering that I couldn't understand. It took a minute to calm her down, and then I got the whole story from her. The crux of the issue: She's got a crush on one of the... Sign in to see full entry.

It never occured to you to lock the door?
Mom took my little sister, Dani, to the hospital on Monday evening. She'd been having some really bad pains in her abdomen, and mom was worried that it might have been her appendix, or something serious. They signed in at emergency at about 6:30, and thus began the waiting. I called the house at... Sign in to see full entry.

First things first--thank you all so much for your comments and kind words! I can't even begin to tell you how much I appreciate it. I had a couple of milestones today: 1) this blog had it's 500th view, which was pretty thrilling. I still can't believe that many people have read my ramblings, but I... Sign in to see full entry.
