Re: Sira

Oh Naut, you poor dear!

There's nothing like a sore face to ruin a perfectly good long weekend

Hopefully you're feeling a bit better now. If not, have a  on me. For medicinal purposes, of course!

Sira
I approve of 'Family Day', of course. The trouble was this year I developed a huge tooth ache on Saturday, and with Monday being a holiday, my dentist went skiing, and I suffered...

Re:

She's given me so much more over the years--a bit of company is the least I can offer in exchange!

As much as I hate to disillusion you, I have to be honest--Mark and I tried the arm in arm thing once, and quickly realized that it's not as romantic as TV makes it out to be. He tends to fall down (a lot...), and I end up going down with him if we're connected like that. Usually, I twirl around while he tries to nail me with a hockey puck, and I'm happy to announce that he only makes 1 in 10 shots!

It might not be as romantic as those charming couples on TV, but we have fun

Re: It's family day every day here.

You've got the right attitude--too bad all parents didn't make the same efforts that you do! Because Mark and I don't have kids or jobs with deadlines, public holidays are a welcome break. But I'm starting to see where they would be annoying for some!

I think that, given a bit of time, Mom will really get into the spirit of this new phase. Whether she finds a new hobby or takes a part-time job to keep busy, she'll be alright once she's had time to adjust.

Re: How are you

I'm doing well thanks

There's just something about a childhood home that's comforting--I really look forward to going there, especially around the holidays. But they have to do what works for them, and any place they are will be just like home!

Thanks for reading!

I think it is wonderful that you recognize the transition for your mom and you offered her a place to hang out. I have been meaning to say that I think it is so wonderful that you and Mark skate. Sometimes I envision you two arm in arm as I have seen on the tv. sam

It's family day every day here.
Up to the family really.  We had a picnic lunch Sunday.  Public holidays are pesky actually as they creep up on me and put me under more pressure on deadlines.  But that's the newspaper business - public holidays don't factor.  Your mother now has an opportunity to do something she always wanted to do. First she has to think what that might be ;-)
