Squirrels, even the most sophisticated members of the troop, do not use words like "egregious" or "parsimonious." They are more likely to revert to obscene references to another's illegitimate birth status or to infer that the enemy's mother is likely to run out from under the porch and bite him.... NOCTURIA
This was a new word for me. It popped up in an onscreen ad for some OTC drug to control symptoms of the condition. I've been dealing with it for a couple months on a regular basis and from time to time for at least a year or two. I assumed the cause was old age - just another one of those conditions... WORKING ON THE BACKYARD SQUIRRELS STORY LINE
I've been thinking of adding a flying squirrel to the Brick Street troop, and maybe he could have a mate. Thinking of calling them Clark and Lois, and having the long-time residents, White Ears, Itchy, Stubby and Peaches and the others, resent them for just moving in and setting up residence in a... "SUNSET AT MAR-A-LAGO" TO REPLACE "DAYS OF OUR LIVES."
At first it was a brief headline, "breaking news." The Donald was pissed off because the FBI had staged a mass raid on Mar-a-Lago, and even broke into his safe. It was, he tweeted in so many words - an insult and totally out of order. Didn't matter that he'd already admitted stealing government... Sign in to see full entry.

SCHOOL DAZE
A hero of mine works weekends and summers in the bakery at the Schnuck's store here because her Monday-Friday job doesn't quite cover the bills. She's an elementary teacher in the East St. Louis district, where her students face all the challenges of an urban environment. Many of the kids she loves... Sign in to see full entry.

STARDUST MEMORIES
In a small high school like Mossyrock, students had to be multi-talented and adaptable. There weren't enough senior boys to make up the whole football team, at least not for the class of 1953. There were eleven seniors, but Wheeler D. was a hemophiliac. Just one tackle could start his joints... Sign in to see full entry.

DAYS OF OUR BACKYARD SQUIRRELS
Itchy made his way from Lake Park, dashed across the thoroughfare by timing his run to fit the pattern set by the traffic light at the corner. Not much had changed since his last sojurn to his old neighborhood when he'd been a member of the Brick Street troop. His sister White Ears was staying near... Sign in to see full entry.

'BYE 'BYE, DAYS OF OUR LIVES
I've watched "Days" off and on since the mid-90s when I retired the first time. Not long ago I blogged a bit about how NBC pays the cost of producing this soap opera by broadcasting at least 60 commercials each hour it's on. Count for yourself if you don't believe that's possible. Sometimes the... Sign in to see full entry.

MY CONTROVERSIAL OPINION - THE ROE V WADE THING
I don't think politically "conservative" means religiously upright. Seems to me it's code for standing against women's rights. Being female, perhaps I over-reacted to the revocation of Roe v Wade by the "conservative wing" of SCOTUS. Maybe their cohorts in Congress aren't really trying to backtrack... DAYS OF OUR BACKYARD SQUIRRELS
Harriet, the golden-tailed hawk, circled high above the town and park, her sharp eyes on the lookout for ground-level movements. There weren't many squirrels in the region now and many birds had switched to nests outside Harriet's range. Her two chicks were always calling for fresh meat, so Harriet... Sign in to see full entry.
