Yesterday was a good day for writing...

Highest single-day word count yet. Over 4,000. I just got to following a thread and couldn't quit until I found out what was going to happen. Turns out old bland as oatmeal Herb is more interesting than I thought. He's using his facade as a boring bean counter to conduct a bit of psychological... Sign in to see full entry.

How long is a piece of string? -- one answer and a wise poem

So the answer is: exactly twice as long as the distance from one end to the middle. I think this convoluted puzzling is rather elegant in its own WTF way. I believe it's designed to gauge the creativity of the test taker, to see if they're able to think outside the logical confines of the expected.... Sign in to see full entry.

Funny thing about this NaNoWriMo project...

It gets my mind going on other writing projects. Like this one I'd half forgotten about, titled "Living Her Life." It's about this guy who's slipped into his wife's life and forgotten his own. Suddenly he 40-something and remembering the freedom of the open road. He realizes he's not living his own... Sign in to see full entry.

Yesterday didn't go as planned.

I expected the Flubby Ducks guys in the a.m., and so kept writing about Herb & Louise. Helped the word count, but I had groceries to shop and people to see. Dave finally called at a little after two -- while I was taking a break to watch my favorite soap opera. He was half an hour out and on his... Sign in to see full entry.

Baby Steps, Hesitation and WTF

I've met my quota for NaNoWriMo as of yesterday by the skin of my teeth. Interruptions abound. Dave from Flubby Ducks came to check the basement carpeting. He says it will be dry in one more day, and then leans on the doorjam to chit-chat about the weather... He was here Monday and Tuesday, too.... Sign in to see full entry.

Adapted from today's headlines...

This father served time for armed robbery, was arrested for leaving a firearm where an unsupervised minor could get hold of it. The 8-year-old tried to rob a little girl at their day-care center, using a gun he had hidden in his backpack. That’s my boy! My pride and joy, takes after his ol’ man,... Sign in to see full entry.

A Glance Back at the Good Old Days

Happy Days of Yesteryear: Tom Trigg of LeClaire Lake His Galaxy of Ideas Made It the Cynosure of Village Activity By RLT By the time the first decade of the 20th century rolled into the second, Thomas J. Trigg was an old-timer in LeClaire, N. O. Nelson’s cooperative village. Two more years and the... Sign in to see full entry.

NaNoWriMo -- team write meeting

Shawn emailed me about the meetings, and I got to the first one, late... He gave me the notice of the next one, which would be ten a.m. to five on Sunday. I went around to make sure I knew where it was while I was out on Saturday afternoon... Since I don't have a laptop, I almost opted out. But... Sign in to see full entry.

Not all spies are Mata Hari -- seductive sirens...

Introducing Joy Herring -- NSA field agent. You may remember her from yesterday, her interaction with Colton Winfield, the numbnuts mole who got himself fired from the Justice Department for sharing confidential information with our friends at Albeit Security......excerpt deleted... P.S. NaNoWriMo... Sign in to see full entry.

Trick or Treat... You decide.

Excerpt from Waking The Zombies: Joe has spent a few days in the belly of the beast as a "consultant." Albeit knows he's the key to finding Uncle, the NSA cryptologist whose spybot application had been easter-egged to Albeit inside Joe's game. But they've had to restort to old-fashioned detective... Sign in to see full entry.
