Being Green Is Nothing New

When Mama brought baby James home from the hospital in May, 1940, she made me sit up in the middle of her big bed to hold him. He was adorable, wiggly inside the coccoon of receiving blanket. I sat on a patchwork quilt she'd made, the top was "plain" of alternating black and cream squares salvaged... Sign in to see full entry.

Writers Without Borders (because Borders closed)

We met last night. Vickie was waiting when I got there, tapping away in her new little Chromebook computer. Chris showed up a few minutes later. Martha didn't make it, she'd thought we were meeting Wed. & her hubby needed the car. But it was her idea that spurred a new direction for our group.... Sign in to see full entry.

About lost photo files...

Thanks so much for your ideas on how to fix Nicole's problem. She later posted to FB that a tech friend helped her recover much of it, but as a budding professional she had what she calls a 'raw' file - the originals that had not been digitally edited - that was totally wiped. The family photos,... Sign in to see full entry.

Ohhh, nooo...

My grandson's wife Nicole has become an accomplished photographer in the two-plus years they've been stationed at 29 Palms, CA. There was no job for her there, out in the desert. So she took up photography and in the next two years accumulated quite a portfolio of newborn babies snuggled in hand... Sign in to see full entry.

Statutory Question

The law professors at SLU are urging Ferguson's mayor to forgive all the unpaid tickets on the city's books. Many tickets have been there for several years, accumulating interest, debts owed by residents that they can never pay. Some have even spent time in jail in lieu of money. Forgiving these... About that RFID chip story

The guy who complained of manipultion by an Obamacare RFID chip had the story wrong, but he wasn't making it all up out of his own delusional imagination. We did some Googling and found there was fact behind the fantasy. A fake story was planted as a joke and went viral. The writer "documented" a... Sign in to see full entry.

Politics Unusual.

I talked my daughter into going to the Center on Friday to listen to a talk by Senator Dick Durbin. It began just as you’d expect. Durbin explained he’d grown up in this area, has a lot of friends here, and loves coming back. Then he talked about social security – he said it would be in full force... Sign in to see full entry.

Daughters

My baby girl is here from Florida for a long weekend. She got here on the hottest and muggiest day we've had in a month of Sundays - and invited me and her brothers to dinner. Joe's suffering from allergies & a touch of asthma and stayed home. But Guy showed up, brought his fiance and her two sons.... Sign in to see full entry.

Detante and Tomatoes

Gary next door was being systematically ambushed by the squirrels - Itchy, Mama White Ears, and Harley (the interloper) along with a couple other foreign agitators. Things came to a head during the great fence renovation of ought-fourteen, when the raiders would grab a green orb and cross the border... Sign in to see full entry.

Lotsa nothin'

I thought I'd go nuts without my internet - and did get a bit frantic the third time I had to use the 'restore' feature. Finally gave up and put it in the Geek Squad's hands. So far, so good. Even got the printer to work. This morning while waiting for Joey of the Squad to show up, two Jehovah's... Sign in to see full entry.
