Sometimes as I play a game of Solitaire my mind drifts away from the game and into contemplation. It could be a meandering journey through events of the past, finally grasping what was really going on among the adults in my life when I was still a half-child. It was figuring out why Mama turned... Sign in to see full entry.

It's Scary Movie season
I haven't seen a movie at a theater for a couple of years now - and I never was much of a fan of the horror genre. But I always did like science fiction, such as The Twilight Zone on TV, spooky and weird but nobody (usually) gets bitten on the neck by a fanged monster. Got to thinking of the tagline... About The Pillows
Thank you all for your comments on the previous post. I did laugh about the little boy's remark, but I didn't correct him. It seemed to me at the time it was his own Mom's job to tell him the facts of life, and would be rude of me to stick my nose into it. CCT commented that it couldn't have been... Pillows?
I was nearly 21 years old and eight months pregnant, (Lorrie was on her way). I was standing in my front yard one morning, perhaps with a rake in my hand, but I remember I was watching neighborhood kids playing ball out there in the middle of the street. Mixed bag of emotions - enjoying their fun &... Sign in to see full entry.

Road Hogs and Bumper Humpers
Seems to me when I'm on the road and there's traffic, there's always an impatient jackass behind me. At least seven out of ten times when I check my rear-view mirror, I see a dark blue pickup and the GMC logo. Or it's a big ol' SUV or a beat-up old work truck. Just for the record, I'm not poking... DONATIONS
Two weeks ago, I had accumulated an inventory of about 2 years' worth of crocheted beanies, hat & scarf sets and those brown emoji hats that were inspired by the famous poop emoji. And then came a double whammy pair of hurricanes that marched across the southeastern US, from the tip of Florida... Sign in to see full entry.

HOW TO WRITE YOUR LIFE STORY
Something I learned in the writing group at the Main Street Community Center: If you're going to write the story of your life so your grandkids can read it one day, it's not a good idea to start at the beginning and write it all down in chronological order. That is - to put it lightly - a daunting... Sign in to see full entry.

First Frost
There's frost on the pumpkins this morn, my dear, it got mighty cold overnight. There's frost on the front lawn this morn, old bean, we may see squirrel footprints at first light. It is 32 degrees at 6:40 a.m. Good time for a cup of coffee in front of the electric fireplace. Moms and dads will be... Sign in to see full entry.

BULLIES
When we moved to the village of Salkum (pop. about 80 families). The post office was housed in Talbott's General Store, we had to pick up our mail each day. There were two gas station/repair shops, a tavern and a cafe that catered to travelers driving on Hwy 12 that led to the White Pass, across the... Sign in to see full entry.
