Update on Bennie…

No more being wakened by pleading yelps, getting up at all hours, stumbling into the pale light of the Moon under the watchful eyes of things lurking at night… My doggie is recovering well, and now the most pressing problem is the administering of the pills that must be taken until they’re all used... Night Walks…

The sidewalk’s concrete slabs are still warm from the day’s heat and are comfortable under my feet, though I do tread carefully in the night’s twilight, that never fades entirely to black at this time in late May… I savor the feeling of the slightly gritty surface, even though I’d rather not be out... Today is the 70 th anniversary of the end of WWII, the end of Nazi occupation of Europe, the end of the extermination of Jews and other ‘undesirables’... New Life Arises from Devastation…

Some of you may recall I wrote about the blow that hit our street in the winter of ‘13/14 – killing the White Ash trees that were already suffering from a disease, and our once leafy street became uncomfortably bare. A Rant…

When I’m taking Ben for his walk he's on an extendable leash. It has a spring-loaded spool that reels in the slack and extends 23 ft.
