Would carrying a wild animal spray work? Like bear spray? Whistle? Howitzer? .44Cal

LOL - way to negociate a truce, Naut!
Actually, TAPS's suggestion is right. One can buy cans of Bear repellent at any hunting/fishing or outfitter stores. It's strong and would do the trick...as long as you and Ben step back so not to breath it too.

HAHA. Well done. Fun read. But, what you need is some coyote repellant spray to carry with you. I hope it works better than the mosquito repellant spray we use around here.

That was an adorable story, but not so good for real happening. I would have me a dead Coyote. My advice is carry a big stick and just for caution if guns are not allowed in your world take a knife, one large enough to stop a bear. I don't trust situations where another cannot speak my language when we need to come to an agreement.

Those coyotes are all over Vt. When I was homesteading, one chased my chickens,
so I chased it. It paused for a second and then took off. They're very fast but pretty
small. Although, I guess it was a good thing it didn't pause too long.

It could happen that way. Anything is possible. You could also ask the nice doggie to come and read the sign.

Yes A fine old tale you are telling us there Naut. I think your best plan would be pull up the sign and attack, if it leaps kick it hard under its tummy that will break its back. Remember to put the sign back. Or throw it a dog biscuit

That is a whole lot of excitement with a coyote you had...I myself have not come across one. I do not believe that there are any in Maryland. At least not yet, anyway.
