(I think I'll just tiptoe out since I know you've read about my recent f'up!) I was thinking about it and know that we aren't taught in driver's Ed to back in when parking, as a general rule....and that got me curious so I checked our drivers handbook and the only mention is a warning to watch carefully when backing out of parking spots....and, while your rant sounds absolutely reasonable, I don't plan on changing my habits - I'll definitely be less careless!

Oh boy - I'd have been very very angry! I'm sure she didn't mean it, but it's a good thing you were attentive, because that could have been a very sad event!

I learned that lesson the hard way 54 years ago. A large lilac bush blocked the view of any traffic coming down the street and I backed into a moving car ruining its fender. I always backed into the drive after that. It wasn't so hard to do.

I agree Naut ,I think it really laziness in a lot of cases. I insist on cars backing into my driveway. The only time that I drive in is if I can get my favorite space in the supermarket yard.For some reason I have a better view of cars pulling out and hardly have to back a couple of feet. That was a quick reaction. Lucky Benny.

Oh, yes, one should back into parking spots (unless it is like a shopping center parking lot where there one can pull through to the other parking spot) and driveways.
