Quality time

Thanks for your comments and prayers. When Susan got home on Friday evening she had yet more bad news - a father of a young girl of seven had literally come into the kitchen the night before and dropped dead with a heart attack. Against a backdrop of such sadness I think we've been drawn even closer... Sign in to see full entry.

End of term report

Thanks for all your comments on my last post. I certainly slept like a baby last night - and that's the theme of this rather ad post today. Susan's ballet school runs some classes in the village hall, just across from where we live, on Friday mornings. They are for very small children who are... Sign in to see full entry.

Spaced out

I have had a very strange day today, largely due to the fact that I had only four hours' sleep last night, largely due to me forgetting to reset the alarm clock after we put the clocks back (or not) last Sunday. It was the first day I had to travel to London so hadn't needed to set it before. I... Sign in to see full entry.

Uncut

Susan buys an annual subscription to Uncut magazine for my birthday each year and it's really good. I get to keep up with some of the new music but also through Christian's Q magazine. For me, though, the stories from the old days of rock and glam and punk are the ones I enjoy most. I'm currently... Sign in to see full entry.

Bread and other staples

I've been really busy since last Friday. My client has an annual awards Dinner celebrating advertising effectiveness and my role is to organise and index the web content between various sites. There were some good entries this year and one of Britain's oldest brands - Hovis - won the Grand Prix. I... Sign in to see full entry.

No spells but magic nonetheless

Well we didn't have any trick or treat visitors at all last night. Either they couldn't find the house or considered the dark drive just too spooky. If they cast any spells on us from afar, I haven't sensed them as yet. Claire went to the doctor's with Susan this morning and was diagnosed with a... Sign in to see full entry.

Peaceful easy feeling

I love that song by the Eagles but I think Lyin' Eyes is my favourite. Yes, I've been working this evening with the radio on in the background. As I've said before, sometimes I can work with music on and not at other times. Radio 2 does it for me these days whereas I was brought up on Radio 1 and,... Sign in to see full entry.

Pizza perfect

Christian and I enjoyed our pizzas in Cambridge last night. I had a medium 'shrimp surprise' which was fairly unsurprising in reality but very cheesy and filling! Christian had a large-size meat feast and nearly ate all of it. I have no idea how he does it but he is, at six feet, the tallest in our... Sign in to see full entry.

Beneficiaries

Firstly thank you for so many kind comments on my last post - I really do appreciate them and this is the lovely thing about Blogit isn't it: we can articulate whatever's on our mind and be assured of truthful responses. The solicitor meetings with Susan's Mum went OK yesterday. Her Mum was really... Sign in to see full entry.

Writing makes it right

I've been back to the novel today after a few weeks away. Just lately I have felt the pressure building up inside me and known all along that the novel was at the heart of it. I have a more relaxed lifestyle now where I am in control of my time, so why haven't I been taking advantage? This has just... Sign in to see full entry.
