Daughter Marika is now legally resident and able to open her business in New Zealand! It isn't easy, NZ is particular to whom they grant resident and business priviledges. It takes a load of paperwork and much time passage, and usually the answer is NO. But currently they are liking college-educated Americans better than others, and welcome business which will bring jobs and benefit to the general economy of the country. Marika will bring better relations between people and their dogs. Since... Sign in to see full entry.

too much Face time
That is, too much time these past couple of days, on Facebook. Busy posting pictures, rating pictures--some fine, fine images in that Bing contest! happily, credits are given, all Facebook folk, so it is possible to click and send a quick message about the shots I love the most, to make sure the photographers get the word, even if the contest doesn't pan out for them. Though over the days the contest runs, the most worthy (along with some I just don't get!) will get some respect and attention.... Sign in to see full entry.

Lookee here!
I have entered a few shots in this contest... just today, so they are not up for review as of this moment, but may be any time. There are some pictures up for review however, if you would like to participate. Don't know if you have to be a Facebook subscriber or not... I'm sure they will let you know, if you do. Anyway, I know some of you are already... Okay, the link doesn't link... you might have to go to Facebook and look there for the Bling Photo Contest, if you feel sufficiently motivated. Like I said...
he is appreciated among his peers--just found this from one of his friends who is also very creative, and who also attended the weekend: (for the record, Charlie came first, he was not copying this 'toon) Sign in to see full entry.
Charlie takes on a new face...again
It was his LARPing weekend--from Friday night through Sunday noon, in-character the whole time. (I know, I've covered this ground before... Live Action Role Play games... Legacies... if you search LARP here on Blogit, you will find a couple of other posts about it, and my son.) Since going off to school, he can only attend three or four of these events a year, where he used to be there every month without fail. He's well-liked there, appreciated for his characters as well as his character. This... Sign in to see full entry.

Faces of Charlie

A female rain
The Navajo call it a female rain when it is misty or drizzly, or simply one of those long, gentle, all-pervading soaking rains. A male rain is the pounding downpour, the aggressive, thunderous hammers'n'pitchforks deluge that hurts when the drops smash into you... This morning, a female rain is cleaning the dust off the leaves, refreshing the limping plants and delighting little birds everywhere. I am glad to see it. Coming home from my month elsewhere, it was more than evident that neither... Sign in to see full entry.

Blame Naut...
His comment to the previous post led to bringing you this photo. Charlie took a theatrical makeup class this past term, and his final project was--himself. Hail, Knight of the Woeful Countenance! Sign in to see full entry.
Charlie is working for an armourer this summer.
this guy makes plate armour out of everything from big old black abs plastic pickle barrels to plate steel. Those of you who have met Charlie through these posts know why it's a perfect job for him. If you haven't, I will tell you two things about him: When he was in kindergarten, where other kids were told not to bring their toys to school, he was told not to bring his characters to school, because it confused the other kids. Now, at 24 almost, he is still dedicated to the proposition that... Sign in to see full entry.

Hilarious!
Today Charlie was talking about something, said it was hilarious, which didn't quite seem to fit... I gave him a quizzical look and said, " 'Hilarious?' " He said, "Did I say 'hilarious?' I meant, 'awesome.' " I don't remember what he was talking about, but that cracked me up! It is so Charlie! Try it out, substituting 'hilarious' for other discriptive words. Sign in to see full entry.
