The play is Shakespeare's MEASURE FOR MEASURE, a comedy of law versus mercy, passion versus orderly intellect, human nature versus... well, other human nature. My lad has three bit parts in it, that call on his sense of buffoonery, comic timing, and his Russian accent. The last is my favorite, and I will share it with you as soon as I either figure out how to embed the video of a 2-minute scene here, or he gets it set up on Youtube. Shakespeare. There is something intimidating about the name,... Sign in to see full entry.

End of the month... Really? Already?
Here comes Christmas and the holidays are underway, with Thanksgiving leftover finished off, and December looms. I started packing up some boxes of things for the daughters, some of the family stuff that they will enjoy as heirlooms. And a few odds and ends: some neat rocks, and some jewelry items. There is Christmas, of course, but also four family birthdays during December and January. This year, I might just keep up! Sign in to see full entry.

soup for lunch
First 'healthy' meal in a few days.... A can of Progresso french onion soup, plus some of the leftover smokey ham from Thanksgiving, and a chopped leek, a dash of Balsamic vinegar: simple, tasty, and reduces the leftover stack. What do you do with the leftovers? Sign in to see full entry.

An excellent Thanksgiving
One of the housemates here invited us to join him and his family for Thanksgiving, so we did that, and for the first time in many years, I did not cook the feast. Going among strangers, you never know how it's going to work out, but this time it was a fine time in good company. The food was excellent, and there was no drama of any kind. A Thanksgiving to be thankful for! i would tell more about it, but I am done in, and ready for bed. I hope you had as gratifying and happy a day as we did! Sign in to see full entry.

Stainless
Among the boxes of my parents' old household stuff, as I mentioned, was my mom's stainless steel Revereware cookware. I am delighted to have it, it is so much better than contemporary versions. In fact, I had gone out and sought pieces from the same era at thrift stores, and accumulated several pots and fry-pans of various sizes. Now I have the largest skillet, and two of the large, medium and small. My mom's are still shiny, probably because we always cleaned them with steel wool. We... yes, I... Sign in to see full entry.

Stuff
The latest visit to my sister's and mom's house, I came away with boxes and boxes of stuff in the truck, old funky boxes packed up with newspapers from 1985. It is household stuff, some of heirloom emotional interest, some just stuff. This morning, Charlie and I unpacked a lot of the boxes that have been sitting in the back of the truck for weeks now. Mom was the Pyrex Queen... casseroles with lids and without, and lids without casseroles; three sizes of custard cups, about 2 dozen pieces; 3... Sign in to see full entry.

Going to the "Theatahh"
Charlie and I went to a play the other night, a wonderful, odd play called THE ELABORATE ENTRANCE OF CHAD DIETY. This link will take you to a review of the very show. http://www.csindy.com/IndyBlog/archives/2012/10/22/review-the-elaborate-entrance-of-chad-deity The setting/theme is professional wrestling, not a thing I have ever much cared for or about. But this totally won me, not to wrestling, but the beauty of a really good play. A "good play" does not waste a word or a motion. The dialogue... Sign in to see full entry.

ouch
Oh, for a jacuzzi, or a nice hot springs...! I've been walking these old tree-root faulted sidewalks for a month now, and managed to keep my feet under me. I wove my way through downed branches and leaf-drifts... Today, a single magnolia seed cone rolled under my foot, and I went down with a crash! Knee scraped, like a kid, and shoulder twisted like an old lady. Strained or sprained... I don't think it's worse than that, and is fine as long as I don't try to lift it or reach back more than a...
