Enough of this laptop crashing randomly, of losing its volume control, of the on/off switch getting crankier and crankier... This morning I acquired a new old pc--another refurbished one, another HP, another one about the same size as this one but capable of faster processing, and I am hoping for better volume control, too. We'll see. I have 30 days to love it or return it. Loading my game onto it now, to make sure it has the capability of playing it properly. If so, then I will take this one... Storms at sunset
https://www.flickr.com/gp/therovingeye/z7eQ6V Storms every afternoon, just about. Sometimes the sky is crowded with them but tonight it was mostly clear... except to the south and over Cheyenne Mountain. Also, a bit of green stuff... Sign in to see full entry.

Sashay!
My daughter who lived in New Zealand for a few years always wanted me to visit in October, on my birthday, because that's when the World of Wearable Art puts on their extravaganza every year. We never managed that, but... for the next 3 months, WoW is here, right here in Colorado Springs with their touring exhibit! To celebrate this in proper style, last night's opening of the show included a runway show of 16 fantastical, waaaay over the top wearable art creationsThese were the creations of... Happy Summer Solstice!
Always struck me as odd that this day, the longest of the year, in some cultures is Mid-Summer Day, and in others, the First Day of Summer! Whatever it is, it's finally here! There is heavy snowing up in the Rockies, but not around here. Spring took almost a month to kick out the last of Winter, and now hands over to Summer. The sky is clear blue, though as often is the case this time of year, thunderstorms are forecast for the afternoon. The landlord came by the other day with a couple of... Sign in to see full entry.

Protecting the garden
https://www.flickr.com/gp/therovingeye/Zcoc23 I have come up with a way to protect the peppers, tomatoes, squash, and flowers from the inevitable hail. We have been having thunderstorms all week, some with petty hail--none yet of the golfball or baseball size that has fallen in this area in recent years. I've heard that we are having more hail than we used to, and I can believe it! The baskets over the pepper plants serve also to collect the hail which will then melt, watering the plants below.... yesterday's photos

Aftermath
Yesterday's trip to the Morbid Curiosities Carnival went pretty smoothly--the drive, more than we expected as the Colorado Renaissance Festival opened this weekend, and we meant to leave an hour earlier than we did, because the traffic is predictably terrible up the road near Larkspur where the Ren Fest lives. It is also right in the middle of roadwork that has slowed the highway traffic, and in a place where there are only two lanes. But we did pass through that bottleneck a pause, apparently... Play it again...
Here we are nearly ready to rush off to the one-day-only Morbid Curiosities Fair in Denver. Ideal for Charlie's post-apocalyptic visions and art, and I will also be bringing my tray of planets and the needle-felting kit to keep me busy. See you after! Sign in to see full entry.

One more time...
Mama Dove is sitting on at least one egg. Charlie got a photo several days ago when she was out and about. Usually they lay a pair of eggs, and she might have added the second after his visit. I am not bothering her, though I do go out on the deck to water the plants, and always say a soft 'hello.' I have been going through the items Julie sent me home with, and a certain painting that used to hang over the buffet in the old house when I was between 5 and 10 turns out not to be the one in the...
