Well, it's raining today, with forecast of high winds and blizzard conditions north and east of here. The wind is already picking up, at 10:30 this morning. And now, it appears to be sleeting out, bits of ice flying in sideways... The mice seem to have been eliminated--for now. My closet is renewed, and many things are now in transparent plastic bins so I can see what's where. I'll be needing to get a footstool, though, to get some things down when they're needed. (I forget what I have if I... Sign in to see full entry.

For St Patrick's Day!
THE SERPENT AND THE SAINT The day was brilliant, the sky and sea their different blues, the lands bright green under the sun, and rich brown where crops would soon be growing. But the Saint, sitting high on the tor above the landscape, saw nothing of the loveliness, and there was a morose look upon him. Beside him was his tall shepherd's crook and a great tome bound in dark leather. The rich scents of early spring wafted on the light breeze. As he sat there upon the jutting rock, a smooth motion... It isn't just enough TP to last through summer...
Yes, it's good to stock up some things to keep a longish-termed sequestered life something like normal. Though not so good to hoard so much that nothing is left for those behind you in line. That's just not neighborly. We are wondering here about a facebook post we saw offering a partially used roll of TP for $15--whether it is a joke, or actual profiteering. But all our efforts to socially distance ourselves in hopes of avoiding this current bug are probably futile. It gets around so slyly, so... Sign in to see full entry.

Still cleaning...
It's the last open-windows day for a while--supposed to snow tomorrow. We have reached the rug-shampooing portion of the closet cleanup. The plan is: disinfectant spray, let sit a while; vacuum again; shampoo; spray. Then I can consider putting clean laundry back in there, shifting yet-to-be-washed stuff downstairs, clearing my bed so I can sleep there again. Meanwhile, the kitchen is also undergoing massive mousive adjustments involving reconfiguring the panty. Now all the mouse-proof goods... Sign in to see full entry.

Clean-up continues...
More loads of laundry today, after a night spent in the guest room. My own bed is still buried under closet stuff. The birds have settled in pretty much, with the orginal two mixing now and then with the new three. The bigger cage fits right where the old one did, and very neatly though it is bigger. The legs are shorter, though, so it is not over-tall for the space. https://www.flickr.com/gp/therovingeye/9g848o You can swim down the photo stream to see some of the fun costumes at WhimsyCon, and... Embers tried to tell me...
I should have listened. As I celebrated the mice not being in the kitchen anymore, I saw one skitter by along the back of my bedroom closet. Today I am discovering just how much they have made themselves at home there. Eww... This is gonna be a laundramat job, and getting new vacuum bags, and using a gallon or so of disinfectant job... And it will be traps time for a while. Send vibes of sympathy... Sign in to see full entry.

CCT wrote of gardens...
My mother died when I was a little more than 3, so we never reached the time of mom-and-daughter chats. But some things she shared with my father, he later shared with me. This is one of those things. She kept, she told him, an inner garden, where she tended the plants and flowers and was at home with herself. She didn't mind if someone looked over the fence, but she only invited friends in through the gate. Only particular friends were welcomed to the inner paths, into the heart of the garden.... Oh deary dear...
I should have gone to the credit union first yesterday, and gotten my rent in the mail before taking the truck in to have its brakes checked. They are breaked. Worse than I thought, so I didn't get the truck back by yesterday evening, and they don't work weekends, so... no vehicle to get to the credit union. Not until Monday. Same for picking up my prescription refill. Same for meeting up with someone whose pirate type telescope I am buying. My grandson, now living next door with Charlie and... Sign in to see full entry.

Out of the blue...
So, here is this nasty international bug going around, and travel through large international airports carries a definite risk. Some airlines have decided to allow customers to postpone or cancel flights, and get either a credit or an actual refund. United is one of those. Delta, with whom I booked my return flight, so far is not. So, the Seattle trip is off for now, though it may end up costing us a $200 cancellation fee. Delta may yet change their policy on this under these special... Sign in to see full entry.

"Branching Out"
Here's the first photo wall at the Thrive Salon here in the springs: https://flic.kr/p/2iyptz4 It has been a busy week as Charlie builds his Auto-Billiards game, prepares to run some chat panels and set up his writer table and art show displays. The boxes of his two self-published books arrived today so he will have some merchandise in that department. Kinda last minute on the delivery, but better than the last time when he had only one sample to show. He also does up the numbers for the tax... Sign in to see full entry.
