What do you think of

A city council, say, Norfolk VA's city council, who in 2000 had a referendum about electing the mayor by popular demand (now chosen by city council from among its members), and then says they don't see the need to change things from the way they are? Sign in to see full entry.

Speaking of Not Establishing a Religion . . . .

To throw out another idea, what about secular art? Artwork in the form of paintings, statues, etc. decorate many public buildings and inspire many people who visit those buildings. Some may even have what is akin to a spiritual uplift from such artwork in public buildings. Should we ban those since some people feel a spiritual tie to art? Isn't banning anything that may elicit such feelings akin to establishing Atheisim as a "state religion"? I have nothing against Atheisim, but it should not be... Sign in to see full entry.

I think I may have Done it!

A couple weeks ago, I sent a letter to the Virginian-Pilot reporters who cover local news and asked them about what happened to the referrendum telling Norfolk City Council to elect the mayor by popular vote rather than by choosing from among themselves. It was an overwhelming vote to do so, yet nothing had been done or even spoken of. Today, there is a really good story in Virginian-Pilot covering that very same issue.
