Piers are gone
Several large and well-known fishing piers in the area, particularly in Norfolk and Virginia Beach, were destroyed or carried away by hurricane Isabel. Fishermen and tourists are going to have to find new piers, or build them. I can remember seeing crowds of fishermen enjoying the piers and catching a vatiety of fish.
