Harvey, I agree with you
even though I am a non-believer.  I am in support of keeping the Ten Commandments and other such things in public places.  Even for those of us who are not Christian, such things have both historic and inspirational value.  During the various religious holidays, Christian and non-Christian, I feel it appropriate to put up the religious symbols for whatever event is being celebrated/honored in public places as well.

State Religion
Being a Christian, I'm saddened whenever expressions of faith in God are ridiculed and/or removed from public view.  Religious expression isn't the same thing a establishing a religion.  Religion is the manner in which one worships.  Establishment of religion by a government is dictating the manner in which citizens must, or are allowed to, worship.  Any expression of spirituality or religion should not be promoted by any governing body, but neither should all expressions of faith or spirituality be banished from public view.  "In God We Trust" is simply a statement of faith.  It isn't promoting or establishing a religion.  If I utter, "Thank you, Lord," in the presence of an atheist, am I imposing my religion on him?  If he prevents me from saying, "Thank you, Lord," in his presence, is he imposing his non-belief on me?
