Songbird Sandals

I'm still on the hunt for comfortable, functional sandals, but tonight I found a link to ones I wore 20 some-odd years back. Check this out: http://www.momentum98.com/maseur.html I remember those masseur sandals so well! I'd smashed my foot and was having terrible foot cramps, and these sandals, with the massaging prongs, stopped the cramping cold. They work on the principle of reflexology. I love the Trekkers shown in the website! Maybe I'll splurge and buy 'em!...Then I'd have no more agony of... Sign in to see full entry.

Two Left Feet

Shoes and I do not get along well. I am not a woman who squeals and swoons upon hearing "SHOE SALE!!" I buy shoes only if I really need them, and I dread looking for them because I have such difficulty finding a suitable pair. For one thing, the practical side of Songbird disdains those sissy shoes made for women, those shoes with skyscraper-high heels that are a hazard for any woman who wears them and anybody standing near her when--not if--she falls off her shoes....And even if I could stay on... HUH??

I have the most bizarre life of anyone I know. This morning, Mom buzzed on the intercom, asking if we had any gas in the toolhouse. The nosey neighbor, Greg, was there and had run out of gas. So I shut the computer down and walked to Mom's trailer and found Greg sitting at the kitchen table drinking coffee and wearing one of Mom's shirts. Now I can vouch for Mom's morality, but I'm not so sure about Greg's. I didn't ask why Greg was wearing my Mom's shirt, but he proceeded to tell me. He'd been... Sign in to see full entry.

Do YOU Make $200 Per Hour?

Mom and I took Mr. Gracie to our vet yesterday to have a cancerous tumor removed from his ear. I'll be starting Mr. Gracie on Yew capsules today to build up his immune system, and God willing, that hellish cancer won't ever return. After we got Mr. Gracie home and settled, I studied the vet's bill. If you really want to make money in life, be a doctor or a veterinarian. The vet charges $200 per hour for surgeries. I don't doubt a second that we did the right thing having the tumor... Sign in to see full entry.

The Final Princess Diana Photo

Humans, by nature, are eccentric creatures. Whether we admit it or not, we often behave and think in bizarre ways. Songbird, for all her practical nature, has a couple very eccentric interests: One, at least, serves some purpose, in that I adore BIG trucks, and the bigger, the better. Big trucks are useful, wonderful tools that can haul all sorts of needed equipment. That is my justification for when I totally lose my train of thought as I see a big truck pass me, like an F250 or F350 or bigger.... Sign in to see full entry.

A Real Rainbow

I blogged about the Rainbow Bridge this morning, having lost 3 of my cherished old kitties in a month. I'm still reeling from that. This evening, the weather turned stormy, though we didn't--thank God--have severe storms or even a lot of rain......But as dark began to fall, the strangest thing happened. The storms were ending and the sky began to clear, and the rain almost stopped. The sun didn't come back out, but the sky got this odd, clear glow to it, and drawn to the light, I looked out the... Three More Cats on the Rainbow Bridge

This past month has been agony for me. I feel like typing this in blood. I've had three cats die in one month and one day. Here at our shelter, we're painfully aware that the old kitties are always vulnerable, and we're always susceptible to losing them....But I can't take this much death; it's too much, too fast. To me, my animals are not pets; they are my children. Some of you will understand the sentiment. On June 12, our oldest cat, Ebony, died unexpectedly. She'd been weakening, but she was... Gun Control & Mr. Wilson

In my youth, I was a flaming liberal. I was once a member of the National Organization of Women (NOW), Greenpeace, and I think I may have donated to the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union). That was a long time ago... I was also fervently in favor of gun control. I really didn't think anybody should have guns. I didn't see the need for them, and because I didn't see the need, I didn't think anybody should have them. I've heard that aging--not that I'm old, I'm only 45--mellows a person. That's... These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things...

"When the dog bites, when the bee stings..." I was reading Renegade's post about having a two week vacation from her three children, whom she loves dearly, but still, she suddenly had all this unaccustomed time on her hands. She posted about how she spent her two free weeks, and I started wondering what I'd do with free time, which is a luxury I will likely never have, at least, not any time soon; my life, with my elderly Mother and my animals, is so hectic and complicated......But what would I... You Stole My ID!!!

A close friend of mine sent me a disturbing e-mail. Yesterday, the postal carrier came to his house asking for $2,000 owed on a COD package, some kind of credit card machine he hadn't ordered. Of course, he refused delivery and told the carrier to return it to the sender. He soonafter learned that bank accounts have been opened in his name, and an American Express account had been opened in his name. He has no bank account and no American Express account. My friend receives an extremely limited... Sign in to see full entry.
