Has BlogIt Become BLAHgit?

Is it just me or have things gotten a tad boring in BlogItLand? I missed posting a couple days, then when I posted I didn't get many comments. I thought it was because I missed, but reading some of the blogs shows me I ain't the only one short on comments. I don't know whether I'm reading boring entries or if things are just slow for us at the moment. Maybe I'm just out of the loop. So how's things in your section of BLAHgitLand? "Barbie" and "Ken"

It's been a few days since my last entry. This past Saturday, Mom, Uncle Ivan and I went to my niece Rachel's graduation party. When Rachel received her Grandpa Shafer's old guitar and read the note I wrote her about it, she was so touched she cried. It was a beautiful, fun day, and we played Gospel music and sang, laughed with old friends......It was also an unsettling day. My former church pastor, Sister "Janna", was there, and it was great seeing her, too, but the conversation turned to... Sign in to see full entry.

I Now Know the Meaning of Fear

I was running errands with Mom yesterday. We live about 50 miles from some of the stores where we shop, so shopping for us is really burdensome. I've never understood how anybody can enjoy shopping. On the way home, we dropped in one of the state's rest areas. This one is particularly beautiful and looks like a park, and inside, of course, was a myriad of travel brochures, along with free state maps. We'd misplaced most of our maps, and we needed new ones in preparation for the trip to my niece... Sign in to see full entry.

Tripped by a Trap

I have a friend--or I'd considered him a friend--who I e-mail fairly regularly. I've never met the guy, and likely never will, and I'll probably not be e-mailing him much any more, either, if at all. This "friend" seems to enjoy setting emotional traps, nothing that's really important, but he puts out bait and waits for his prey to grab it. The first time he did it, he caught me off guard and really hurt my feelings. I'd chattered to him about different things, one of which was the behavior... Sign in to see full entry.

An Old Guitar and a Graduation

My niece, Rachel, is graduating from college next weekend. She's done well for herself, working and going to school, and I'm honored to have her for my niece, my only niece. When she was a kid, I took her trick or treating. We had a blast! I've always been a kid at heart about Halloween, and I dressed in costume, too, usually dressing as a gypsy witch, with cheap gawky jewelry, a long black skirt and a shawl. Rachel and I had such fun together, even the Halloween when it snowed and we froze... Sign in to see full entry.

AND THEY'RE OFF!!

When in Rome... My rant against the Kentucky Derby drew more attention than I realized it would. I figured I'd ruffle the feathers of the hard-core Derby fans in BlogItVille, but the subject came up of the silly horse names. Yes, they're silly, but even I have to admit, they're creative, and though the Derby bores me, something of the creativeness of the names stirs me. Maybe it's just the writer within, I don't know. I also think my rant was a tad harsh, and thinking about it resurrected a fond... Sign in to see full entry.

It's Kentucky Dumby Week!

And they're off! I'm tempted to say "Who cares?", but I know I'm in the minority. I don't live close to Louisville, Kentucky, but I live close enough to receive WHAS, a Louisville t.v. station, and we subscribe to the Courier-Journal, a Louisville-based newspaper... Apparently, LOTS of folks care that it's Kentucky Derby time. I canNOT figure out why. What is so fascinating about a horse race? Is it just an excuse to party? And for the better part of two weeks? Derby week used to be one week.... Sign in to see full entry.

Women Bloggers, Are the Men in Your Life Trying to Control You?

Whaddaya think? Are there more men control freaks than women? That's what it seems like to me. Husband John, with whom my relationship--should you care to call it that--is VERY shaky, is a computer guru, and he's always telling me what's safe to look at on the 'net and what's not. This constant warning about what will put spyware on the computer makes me want to barf. DON'T use Internet Explorer, I hear, Netscape is awful, too, so I'm told. DON'T download pictures--takes too much space, blah,... Sign in to see full entry.

Maliciously Burned to Death: Is 14 Years Prison Time Enough Punishment?

Those of you with very sensitive stomachs might want to skip reading this entry. I'm not desperate enough for clicks to sicken anyone on purpose, and all names and events in this entry are true. On April 28, this past Friday, Hope Ann Rippey walked out of prison a free 30 year old woman. She served only 14 years of her original 50 year prison sentence. Her crime? She burned a 12 year old girl to death on purpose. In 1992, Shanda Renee Sharer, 12, was kidnapped by Hope Rippey and 3 other teenage... Sign in to see full entry.

You Bloggers are Wasting My Time!!

Unfortunately, I'm loving every minute of it. I stayed up 'til 2:30 a.m. last night, blogging and commenting. I was supposed to be studying my stock course. I'll eventually get it read, and hopefully before my tax refund comes so I can re-fund my stock account and start trading again......But you bloggers are making it so hard for me to get any work done! CAN'T YOU PEOPLE BE A LITTLE LESS INTERESTING?! I love keeping up with Anthony Wiley and seeing his beautiful pictures. And I have to keep up... Sign in to see full entry.
