Starting Over

"Our life, together, is so precious, together. We have grown..." I cannot count the times in my life when I have started over. I'm often reminded of the opening words of Lennon's song, Starting Over. I had thought the most profound episode that forced me to start over was my Dad's death, which redefined my Mother's and my life irrevocably. Mom was thrown into deep debt, atop the grief, and my whole life exploded, having to encircle my life around Mom's so she could survive. These last several... Sign in to see full entry.

HA!! Let's See 'Em Chew On THIS One!!!

When I blog about my critter kids, I usually write about my cats or some health problem... So it's not widely known that I have 3 relatively big destructive dogs: Dosoda, who fancies herself a princess, Dulcinea, the biggest of the 3 and the alpha dog, and HoneyBear, the bullheaded, red half beagle. Together, those three can wreck anything. My Dad would've called 'em the "We wreck 'em all" crew, and he would've been right. My canine crew chiefly lives outside, but that said, I don't believe in... Sign in to see full entry.

"Check" Out My Castles!

I'm running out of checks. I hate ordering checks. Don't get me wrong. I like lots of choices in life, but having half a zillion get-your-checks-cheaper-and-prettier-than-those-ugly-things-from-your-bank companies tend to intimidate me. I don't get 'em free like Mom does, so I have to think about ordering checks instead of grabbing the phone and telling some underpaid worker at the bank that I need a fresh supply. I put off ordering as long as possible, then finally bit the bullet and spent a... Sign in to see full entry.

I'm Back for the Umpteenth Time...and Check THIS Out!

I'm trying to straighten out and be a faithful blogger again--I truly am! Things just turned inside out for me since I started bloggin'! Anyhow, my biggest writing problem has been solved. I've had so many problems hit that I hadn't the heart to write, much less the time. I really have needed, have even been repeatedly prompted by the Lord, to put my nose to the grindstone again and start another book......But more and more time slipped by without me starting another book, and I felt like I'd... Is My Middle Name "Mess"?

I always thought the old saying about trouble being someone's middle name was a joke, until the last few months. Now I'm not so sure... My middle name starts with an "M". I think my name is "Mess". I've been trying to get back to blogging--writing in general, because I found a website wanting me to write for them--but I've had one explosion after another and I just couldn't get to it. A few months back, my dear Uncle Ivan started having car trouble. He took his car to our friend and trusted... Sign in to see full entry.

How Low Will He Go?

I was going to write about a different subject than this, a lighthearted, humorous one--my favorite kind in this tortured world, but I have the habit of checking Google News when I turn on the computer. I evolved from a family of news hounds, so it's my destiny to continually check news. Google News is my home page. I confess to being naive, even in cases where a person is a total reprobate: Case in point being O. J. Simpson. Even the naive Nellie that I am believes he murdered Nicole Simpson... Internet Money Making for Dummies

I've been away for awhile. I have this tendency to hunker down and crawl in a cave when things get too hectic or go too awry. I do so need to make a living online, and all these "opportunities" sound so good, so profitable, that one is tempted to just jump up and grab 'em. I've since learned better. A lot of them are outright scams, but I really think most of the internet business opportunities are just unworkable by most people. Face it, most of us are not born marketers. Selling doesn't come... Sign in to see full entry.

Castle Building 101

Now that we've decided to build a castle, I Googled castles and found this website: http://castlemagic.com/ This business builds castles, price tag, minimum 3 million bucks. They're booked up 'til 2010. We'll build the thing ourselves, for sure......except for getting some help from our friend Louie, a jack of all trades and master at home maintenance. Louie can handle anything we can't. Husband John did a rough preliminary sketch of a castle. He's decided he wants 4 turrets instead of 2. Hey,... Sign in to see full entry.

If I Getta Live in a Castle, Can I Be Queen?

I live on 3 acres in an old, ramshackle farmhouse. Mom lives in a mobile home on the same property, just across the field. I've been told the house was built in 1894, and from the looks of it, that's probably right. Mom and Dad bought this place in 1994; then, the house was in good shape and had been remodeled... Oh, how time changes things... Shortly after I moved in, something strange began to happen to the living room floor; it began to sink. We couldn't figure out what was going on, so we... Trying to Figure Out WHAT I Am Doing...

At 45, you'd think a person would pretty much have it together and not get up each morning feeling newly challenged all over again. Is that how it is with other folks in their late 30s and mid-40s? Do other people have it all together and I'm just an oddball? I've thrown my hat and a few bucks into internet marketing. I'm now struggling to learn about stuff like safe lists and banners and autoresponders and all that techy marketing jargon. I feel like a fish floppin' around on the ground. A few...
