I was able to make payment arrangements with the natural-gas company, precluding the need for me to contact my doctor to prove that disconnection of natural-gas services would aggravate my medical condition. I could prove it, in all probability, but I imagine our natural-gas company gets a lot of that kind of information from people looking to weasel out of paying their natural-gas or other heating bills. We received another disconnect notice, this time from our local natural-gas company. I think I'm finally tired of all the financial stress. I know for a fact that it could have been averted by doing things differently; we could have been prepared for all the medical bills I've run up over the past two-plus years (since I was hospitalized for depression in August 2004).
