The moon in shadow

I woke up several times during the early hours of the morning to take a look at the moon as it went into eclipse and out again. The first time, the earth's shadow had begun to move over the moon, but not very much, and the sky was misty so the moon was not clear. I went back to bed. A while later, I was on the deck again, gazing at the moon which was big and bright and even a little shiny. There were other people on the deck... wait... Then I woke up again. I was really awake later, when it had... Sign in to see full entry.

"Dancing Dog"

It was the name of Marika's dog training business in New Zealand... It is the name of a bit of music Charlie created for his penny-whistle. http://projectprospero.blogspot.com/2014/10/the-dancing-dog.html Sign in to see full entry.

It was a lovely day!

My birthday was Friday, but Sunday was the day I celebrated with one of my oldest friends. We were pals through high school, and afterwards kept in touch intermittantly, then hardly at all. We have been pretty much out of touch for a lot of years now. I have had to reconnect my facebook account recently, for business reasons, and we connected again there. I discovered she is now living with her daughter about 20 miles north of here! And she discovered I am only 20 miles south of there! So she... Sign in to see full entry.

For Adnohr and Naut... and alll the puppy lovers!

Someone forgot to pay the gravity bill. https://www.flickr.com/photos/therovingeye/ The pictures are of Cooper, a Lancashire Heeler, which is a breed of cattle-dogs. You can see the corgi legacy in his shape and ears. Sign in to see full entry.

More changes...

I get a professional haircut not all that often... I think the most recent, until yesterday, was 2 years ago. This one is not only to celebrate my birthday, but also to look half respectible for my new driver's licence which I must get by tomorrow. As it turned out, since my old license is from a state that does not require proof of citizenship to get to drive, and this one does, I needed to bring another ID with me. You'd think they could put that on the online information site. But they... Sign in to see full entry.

Becoming Coloradan

I go to renew my driver's license today. For the past many years, it has been a Washington State license, and today, finally, I commit to residency here in Colorado. It might not be too late to register for voting in the coming election. My one vote against the predominant tides of unconstrained private gun ownership (Yeah, right you need an uzi to hunt deer!), in favor of religious and social tolerance, in favor of teaching actual history, rather than doctored dogma in schools... I wonder what... Sign in to see full entry.

Life shifts

Waking up before dawn grants the privilege of the pre-dawn sky. Those three beauties in a relaxed triangle: Jupiter, and the stars Procyon and Sirius, and to the west, Orion stepping out to the horizon. I love to see that sky, especially now I no longer have to drive Charlie to work before 7am. He has changed shifts to work 10am-7pm for the next little while. This past week has been so wonderfully busy and adventurous! Despite the creeps at the Enterprise office, and some worries about having... Sign in to see full entry.

Santa Fe Ren Faire!

As much fun as it was, as many fine costumes and characters, I hardly got out the camera at all. This is the difference between wandering about, and having a booth to tend. It was worth finding the camera, though, for this particular dragon, one of the best costumes I have ever seen off of the big or small screen. I will tell you her name when Charlie gets home from work later. Flickerflame, or something like that. And there is my little booth with a few of my wares.... Sign in to see full entry.

Night Driving

It is about a 6 hour drive between Colorado Springs and Santa Fe, New Mexico. Our departure times were later than I wanted, because I don't much like driving in the dark. And with the recent early-to-bed, too-early-to-rise regular schedule that gets Charlie to work on time (leaving the house at around 6:40 am) even late-night sitting around isn't great. Driving to 11:30pm is downright risky. And just to add to anxieties, we drove a rental car. Incredibly better gas mileage, but it sure handles... Sign in to see full entry.

Exhausted in Santa Fe

Short greetings after a very long day! The Festival has many booths in the Renaissance part of the activities, all in the upper areas. The Faery Village is in the lower area... down a long dusty road, and 'down' is the operative word. Back up again, is also operative. Up, making three trips to bring things from the car, like tables and merchandise and chair and costuming. Up and down, neither way easy. Up (and down) mid-day, to get food (tasty crepe full of vegies and mozzarella, and a balsamic... Sign in to see full entry.
