Dog park on a winter day

More and more communities are setting aside a bit or even a lot of land, fenced or not, for dogs to run off-leash. There are rules, of course, about leaving favorite toys home, and having good voice control over your dog, and cleaning up after your dog--poo bags often provided on site, and a place... Oh, the lovely fishies!

Once upon a time, I had a collection of bettas. Each of these aggressive little fish had its own little tank, its own little habitat which may have been more for my enjoyment than theirs: I am not sure what a betta really likes. But I like them. Now, I have two here in Colorado. And they have been... Sign in to see full entry.

A timely reminder...

I have been cruising through flickr, and here in the physical world, framing up various photos to put on display at a certain coffee shop near here. It's gratifying, to see a nice image enhanced by a frame, or even a paper matte. And it is even more gratifying to see one go home with someone who... Sign in to see full entry.

Sundown fires

Colorado has the most amazing clouds, and therefore, some of the most beautiful sunsets. The sky over the mountains to the west goes fiery, while the sky to the north and east is at the same time, soft and gentle, lush pastels. These images I shot from the front steps at the house, and the bare... Sign in to see full entry.

another Colorado sunset

I was in the car during the best of this sky, trying to get to one of the best places for watching the sky. But these shots are the tail end of another amazing sky. I could not have fit it all in my camera if I'd been in the right place at the right moment. http://www.flickr.com/photos/therovingeye/ Sign in to see full entry.

A few more leaves and trees and stuff...

If you haven't had enough of autumn colors yet, here is a set of photos from a Maryland October a few years ago. http://www.flickr.com/photos/therovingeye/sets/72157622579796402/ The last in the set is one of my favorites. See the plane? Sign in to see full entry.

Why not just stay home?

Home is where all you keep your stuff. You know where it is, or at least that it is 'somewhere around here.' All your clothes are at hand, your books, your appliances. A variety of meal options, probably, and your own utensils. Home is where you can close yourself away from the world, if that's your... Sign in to see full entry.

Window Seat, DC to Denver

It was afternoon, and the first part of the flight was mainly sunlight on clouds, not terribly exciting clouds. So, a couple of shots there... Then I read Temple Grandin's book, ANIMALS IN TRANSLATION, until the sunset began to glow. The pilot was good enough to tell us that the ground below us is,... Sign in to see full entry.

The adventure continues...

Bags are overpacked, carry-on is as light as I can make it... the right shoulder feels better, now that the left is really messed up--glad to be living in the age of Ibuprofen. Flying back to Colorado this afternoon. I didn't get to New York or points north, or visit monuments or museums. But I got... Sign in to see full entry.
