I know there are many people who are taking advantage of the system in the hurricane aftermath, but there are a lot of good, decent honest people who really need help. I know a lot of these people did things right and had insurance and such. But that just gets you life back on some halfway solid... Sign in to see full entry.

Cold weather will wreak havoc plus \writing
Cold weather will wreak havoc plus writing I know it won’t be as cold here as up North, but we will have temps a few degrees below freezing. That will do in most of our crops. The tomatoes and peppers won’t stand this. They will be part of the compost pile soon. This is the time of year we tidy up... Sign in to see full entry.

Taking stock of our “farm”
Yesterday we decided to take a good walk around our place and write down some of the things we needed to accomplish since the storm passed. We had to do some emergency stuff for the first couple of months, but since then we have not done a whole lot to get the place back to normal. We have been... Sign in to see full entry.

FEMA, the President, the Governor, the Mayor
During the entire time we have been dealing with Katrina, both before and after the storm, disasters have occurred at every level of government. I am not writing this to cast blame on anyone. Everyone was at fault in this whole deal. The governor did a bad job before the storm hit and an even worse... Sign in to see full entry.

Re-starting a new "old" post
Felled trees populated the entire property. Our grand pecan trees were reduced to heaps of jumbled and mangled wood. Our beloved hawthorn’s, or mayhaw as we call them down South, lay bent over, snapped like matchsticks. Our market garden, our pride and joy, was in disarray with a huge oak tree lying... INDEPENDENCE DAY It is the 4 th of July and our Independence from Great Britain, England, or whatever you call them day. We all know the story so I will spare all the details of the thing and just write about some things I think are important about it. The brave souls who signed the document were... Still having too much fun
It has been awhile since I last wrote. I have been on a bit every now and then just to check things out and make a few comments. I have been writing though. I feel so much like Thoreau. I hope my writing can be considered 1/10 as good as his. We are doing much the same thing I have been doing since... Sign in to see full entry.

Time to write a bit again!
It is time to write again. I have been busy working at our “ranch” and writing some stuff that I just have not taken the time to write here. I will do so again because I have more time and I want to get back into the swing of things. We are finished with the mayhaw crop and making jellies, jams,... Sign in to see full entry.

I am living it up!!
Since I last wrote I have really been living it up. I am having a ball. The time of my really is what I am having. I have not felt this great in a long, long time. I can feel myself being more calm. My blood pressure has lowered just a bit since I have been here on the bayou. It is just a good... Sign in to see full entry.
