Family is coming to town. Our farm, with the exception of a few duties, will be left alone until the first of next year. We will begin to get into holiday mode today. There will be visits from and to friends and family. There will be plenty of food and merriment. Gifts, mostly made by loving hands,... Sign in to see full entry.

Just about finished with my gifts
I am just about finished making all my gifts for the holidays. Yes, that is correct. I have just about completed the task of fabricating all of the gifts I am going to make. I did a buy a few for some people, but for the most part the rest have been made by hand. I made most of the presents from... Sign in to see full entry.

It was a very nice day
Yesterday was a very nice day for my dogs and I. We took our walk and had a wonderful time. I love days such as this. We need to all try to do things such as this as often as we can. It is good for the mind, body, and spirit. We began our Thoreau-like walk around 8 and made it back home by 4. We... Sign in to see full entry.

It’s a day off for a change
My dogs and I will take a day off today and have a free day to do as we please. It is the Sabbath and we will observe it. I won’t say much about religion because to me it is a very personal subject that should not be discussed in public. I am spiritual though and that is all I will say about that.... The work must go on
It was cold and rainy earlier, but now it just cold and wet. The work must go on at our place though. Today has been a day of wood chopping and gathering produce for the local markets. In a bit we will have gather pecans. Our pecan crop was one of our income producers before the hurricanes. We had... Sign in to see full entry.

Don’t that just gall you
I know my family has incurred some losses because of Hurricane’s Katrina and Rita. We are better off than some people who lost everything. So we still wanted to give back some not only for Christmas, but all the time. Hungry people need to eat for 365 days a year; not just during the holidays. This... Sign in to see full entry.

Keeping it simple, but........
I know I have tried to simplify and slow down my life with my move to the bayou. I still need a few high tech things to keep me in touch with the world though, such as this computer and Internet connection. I also want a Sirius satellite radio for Christmas. With a satellite radio and this service I... Sign in to see full entry.

It’s a nice day for some good, hard work
It will be pretty warm on the bayou down here today. That means we can get in a good day of work before the cold weather hits again. I enjoy this type of life so much it’s hard to describe. Knowing it will get cold, we will chop some firewood for ourselves and to sell. We have many people looking... Sign in to see full entry.

I could shoot the emergency room vet and staff
I know I should probably not complain about these people. They save many poor animals and are a great help to the community. They have helped us before. But this past weekend they really stuck it to us. My 10-year old Dalmatian, Dottie, had an episode because of her diabetic condition. We rubbed... Sign in to see full entry.

Poor Old Tookie
Stanley Williams, or Tookie, as he is known, is in bad shape at this point. The convicted killer of four people on two separate occasions has just about exhausted his appeals and requests for clemency. He has only the governor and the Supreme Court to turn to now and both probably won’t do him any... Sign in to see full entry.
