God Doesn't Answer Prayers

Prayer. For most prayer means asking God for something. We pray for protection, we pray for good health, we pray that the Cardinals will finally win. This is not how I see prayer. I don’t see prayer this way because I don’t believe in "God" as a benevolent, supernatural being who is involved in our world. I believe “God” is love. I believe “God” is intelligence. I believe “God” is everywhere and in everything. I also believe in prayer. But the prayer I believe in has nothing to do with... Sign in to see full entry.

Live on the Edge of Death to Experience "God"

In a recent article by Dr. Stephen Ruppenthal, he puts forth the idea that some of the techniques used by mystics, sages, Buddhists and others to experience "God" is the same experience reported by those who have had Near Death Experiences (NDEs). It's a pretty interesting idea. NDErs report that when their bodies were near death, or thought they were near death, an illuminating bright white light and the feeling of joy or bliss occurred. This experience happened to Dr. Ruppenthal's mother, who... Sign in to see full entry.

Miracles Don't Exist

I’ve been reading a series of articles about Yeshua and his miracles. Arguments for and against abound. Personally, I have no problem believing in His miracles. I’ve seen things in my life that are beyond rational description, so miracles performed by Yeshua are not hard to accept. Yeshua’s miracles tend to be separated into two distinct categories: healings (including exorcisms) and natural events. The latter would include things like walking on water, multiplying loaves and fish, etc. While... Sign in to see full entry.

A Bit of Yeshua from an Islamic Perspective

Al-Ghazzali (1058-1111), an Islamic prophet given the title “Proof of Islam” and second only to the prophet Mohammed in respect and importance, was well-versed in Christianity and included some of its fundamental teachings in his teachings of Sufism. Found in his seminal work, A Revival of Religious Sciences, are many statements attributed to Jesus. Here are a few of my favorites. I will share more as I continue to read and learn. Jesus used to say, “My seasoning is hunger, my undergarment is... Sign in to see full entry.

And Now For Something Completely Different . . .

I've started to write a little poetry again. Here's my first in probably 10 years: There are those who often wonder What their purpose is in life. Some walk the path of plunder, Some walk the path of strife Some find their lot in worldly things, Some in the beauty of a hill, Others work and work and praises sing, Of the beauty of their pill But our simple purpose in this space: Loving those found at their worst. For love, if left in the proper place Like raindrops, ends the thirst. Sign in to see full entry.

Satan as Evil is a Recent Development

Satan, as he is known today – i.e. the evil-doer in the Christian world - is a recent invention. The word Satan (in Hebrew, ha satan) means the “adversary”, “opposer” or “obstructor”. This was a supernatural being who was part of God’s court, one of his obedient servants. In Hebrew, Satan was called malakim, a member of the heavenly court. The word malak, translated into Greek becomes angelos, from which the word angel comes. There is nothing of evil in any of these definitions. Satan is seen as... Sign in to see full entry.

My Explanation of the Statement "God" is Love

JustA was recently asked in a comment to define the statement "God is love". And I thought that was a good question, because if you’ve read my posts, you know that I too believe "God" is love. The following is my attempt at defining that. First off, everyone knows that all matter vibrates. Hard objects (like a rock) vibrate at a much lower rate (not even perceptible by us) than softer objects (like water), but they all vibrate. Emotional energy, like everything else, vibrate as well. And that... Sign in to see full entry.

Yeshua Did Not Say, "Love Yourself as Long as You Follow the Rules."

Condition: a statement of what is required in an agreement. Love: An intense, warm, affectionate concern for another person If one combines these two definitions, one gets conditional love: an intense, warm, affectionate concern for another given when the requirements of an agreement have been met, i.e. "I will love you if you do or don’t do the following." See how this works? Conditional love is love given based on predetermined conditions, or rules. This is NOT what Yeshua meant. He did not... Sign in to see full entry.

See Me, Feel Me, Touch Me, Heal Me

Healings. Do you believe it is possible to heal someone? Is the laying on of hands something that works? I’ve been doing some reading on healing within the Christian community. I find it fascinating. And I’m a believer because I’ve seen it happen. I’m a believer because I’ve been lucky enough to help heal. I became a Reiki practitioner probably 15 years ago. I have used it many times to help heal various ailments. As you study about the process and prepare for your first attunement, you learn... Sign in to see full entry.

We Are All Immature When it Comes to "God"

In the book of Thomas the Contender, Yeshua states: The Savior answered and said, “If what is visible to you is obscure to you, how can you comprehend what is invisible? If the deeds of truth that are visible in the world are difficult for you to accomplish, how then will you accomplish things pertaining to the exalted greatness and the fullness, which are invisible: How then will you be called workers? For this reason you are students and have not yet attained the greatness of perfection.” In... Sign in to see full entry.
