Other Begotten Sons/Daughters of God

In a previous post, the idea that one can reach Christ consciousness just like Yeshua did was put forth. Here are some more examples as to why I (and many others) think this is possible. - We are told in Phillipians that we are to put on the mind of Christ, just like Christ Jesus. - How can we be “joint heirs with Jesus of the Kingdom” as we are told in Romans if we can’t become like Christ and achieve Christ Consciousness? - How can we “do the works that I do, and even greater ones” as Yeshua... Jesus is Not the Only Begotten Son of God.

Here is an interesting concept. Some mystics point out that as a Christian, when one recites the Nicene Creed and states, “I believe in Jesus Christ, the only begotten son of God,” one is actually stating a falsehood. The falsehood is based on how one interprets the name “Jesus Christ”. When used in this fashion, the argument is that Christ is seen as Jesus’ last name. Of course, that is not true. Jesus is the Christ, the anointed one. But there is another problem. If one believes that being... Sign in to see full entry.

One Truth, Many Perspectives Based on Spiritual Maturity

While there is only one Truth, there are many perspectives of that Truth. For me, perspective is based on spiritual maturity. We all mature spiritually at different rates, just as we all mature into adults (most of us anyway) at different rates. So my Truth is correct and your Truth is correct because our spirituality has matured at different rates. We see things based on where we are spiritually. We learn about this in the Bible. Yeshua tells us that he spoke in parables because we all are at... Sign in to see full entry.

How Can My Truth Be Different From Yours if There is Only One Truth?

I’ve been a student of Christianity and spirituality for more than 20 years, with about 8 of that being serious, in-depth study, reading and contemplative prayer/meditation. And it’s a funny thing, for all of the reading I have done and for all of the studying I have done, the one way that I know something is right, the way that I know I have found Truth, is by what my gut tells me. Now don’t get me wrong. The studying has helped to validate what I have felt and thought for many years. And... Sign in to see full entry.

Love the Homeless Like You Love Yourself

“…Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” This statement, taken from the Lord’s Prayer, is a pretty powerful statement for me. Since I believe that “God” is love and that Yeshua was showing us the kingdom of heaven through his ministries, and if I believe in what I say as I recite the above statement, then my mission is simple. We are all equal in the eyes of “God” so I am to act as such; we are to love our neighbors as we would love ourselves so I should do as such. But what exactly... Sign in to see full entry.

Origen - Transmigration of the Soul

Origen (185-254 A.D.) is considered one of the premier theologians of early Christianity. One of his main tenets is the idea of metempsychosis, or the transmigration of souls. Origen did not believe in the eternal suffering of sinners in hell. In Origen’s thinking all souls, including the one called Satan, are eventually restored (a concept known as apokatastasis) to oneness with God. If a soul did not reach God in one lifetime, it would continue on in additional lifetimes until it did. He based... Sign in to see full entry.

Are Shamans Doing Things That Yeshua Said We All Can Do?

Shamanism. I mentioned it in yesterday’s post. It is a process for healing and soul retrieval. A shaman will enter into an altered state of consciousness, what Carlos Castaneda called non-ordinary reality, and will work to heal an individual or to retrieve a part of a person’s soul. This second part of the shaman’s job is what I find most fascinating. According to Dr. Michael Harner, former professor and chairperson of the department of anthropology at the Graduate Faculty of the New School for... Sign in to see full entry.

Eat a Musroom and Speak to "God"

In Mysticism, the goal of the mystic is union with “God”. This is done through deep meditation and increased spiritual maturation through working on ridding one’s self of Ego. When the Ego is gone, union occurs and the mystic is forever changed. His or her views of the world, of space and time are altered. This process is an altering of the mystic's state of consciousness. (Consciousness can loosely be defined as a waking state in which perceptions of time, space, objects, events, etc. are... Sign in to see full entry.

Anyone Can Access "God" Through Any Path to Truth

The Gospel of Philip, discovered at Nag Hamadi in 1945 but not published until 1977, is a series of statements about Yeshua and his work or from Yeshua. Several sayings are similar to those found in the four Canonical Gospels, and some are not. One of my favorites is the following: The master entered Levi’s dyehouse. He took seventy-two colors and threw them into the vat. He took them out, and they were all white. And he said, “In this way has the child of humankind come as a dyer.” - Gospel of...
