Painter’s most recent post about Church got me thinking again about why I go. I am not a fan of Church, as I have said before. The dogma I find and the restrictions inherent in the system make it difficult for me to accept what I hear. But I usually will find, either in the sermon or in discussions with someone some nugget of truth that makes it worth my while. This is not something that happens every Sunday. Some Sundays there are no nuggets to be found – not even any dust. On those days... Sign in to see full entry.

It's All About Removing Distractions
Here is a question. Why is it that Yeshua, Buddha, Mohammed and mystics from all over the world all went into solitude for extended periods of time? What would be the reason for this? Is it that they needed to be alone to better think? Or that perhaps they were tired of interruptions as they pondered God (or a lack thereof)? I don’t think so. I think that it is because of what Ciel said in a comment to my post from yesterday. And this is what I was trying to say in that post: even though one can... Sign in to see full entry.

You Can't Experience God With 5 Senses
Touch, taste, feel, see, hear. Five senses that allow us to experience the outer world. And while one needs these senses not only to experience the outer world, but to survive as one experiences that world, they make the process of experiencing “God” difficult at best. Since life is the experiencing of the outer world, we are conditioned to expect sense stimuli to occur when we are “experiencing”. But since “God” cannot be “experienced” externally (beyond unconditional love, which very few... Sign in to see full entry.

A Good Example of the Mystic's Path
As one who follows the mystical path to “God”, I am always looking for interpretations that help me to keep my path clear. The following few paragraphs are from the Apocryphon of James, a document found at Nag Hammadi and written in the 1 st or 2 nd century. The document is a dialogue between Yeshua and James and Peter. The paragraphs below are found near the end of the document, after Yeshua has answered questions from the disciples: “When he said these things, he went away. And we knelt down,... Spontaneous "Wiseass" Disease Pointed Me to the Spiritual Path
A mystery that has been teasing me again as of late and was brought back up to the top of my brain while reading one of Pappy's recent posts is the mystery of what possesses one to begin down the spiritual path? What is the catalyst that puts one in a position to begin to question orthodox thinking with regard to God and Jesus? What forces one to knock one’s concepts of reality on its side and peer inside to see what’s really there – or not there? I’ve had this discussion with many friends who... Sign in to see full entry.

Paul Tells Us We Must Be Spiritually Mature to Reach Yeshua
In Philippians 3, Paul is writing about knowing Yeshua and of what he thought was important before he met him. He then writes that all he thought was important was “garbage” now that he knew Yeshua and knew that the goal was to “become one with him (Yeshua).” In Philippians 3:12 Paul writes that he is far from perfect, but that he is working toward, “the day when I will finally be all that Christ Jesus saved me for and wants me to be.” He goes on to write that, “I hope all of you who are mature... Sin is Forgetfulness, That's All
"For this reason, do not take error too seriously. Thus, since it had not root, it was in a fog as regards the Father, engaged in preparing works and forgetfulness and fears in order, by these means, to beguile those of the middle and to make them captive. The forgetfulness of error was not revealed. It did not become light beside the Father. Forgetfulness did not exist with the father, although it existed because of him. What exists inhim is knowledge, which was revealed so that forgetfulness... Sign in to see full entry.

Help Others, Know Yourself, Forget the Past, Forget About Death, Live Truth
Speak concerning the truth to those who seek it and of knowledge to those who, in their error, have committed sin. Make sure-footed those who stumble and stretch forth your hands to the sick. Nourish the hungry and set at ease those who are troubled. Foster men who love. Raise up and awaken those who sleep. For you are this understanding which encourages. If the strong follow this course, they are even stronger. Turn your attention to yourselves. Do not be concerned with other things, namely,... Sign in to see full entry.

"Only Those Who Have Put Themselves to Death" Will See the "Kingdom Of God"
Yeshua, in response to a statement by James asking Yeshua to not speak of death and the cross to them (the disciples), is quoted in the Secret Book of James (one of many documents kept out of the New Testament), as saying: “Truly I say unto you, none will be saved unless they believe in my cross. But those who have believed in my cross, theirs is the Kingdom of God. Therefore, become seekers for death, just as the dead who seek for life, for that which they seek is revealed to them. And what is... Sign in to see full entry.

Was Terry Schiavo's Soul Gone From Her Body Before Death Today?
Witchflower brought up an interesting point in a recent comment. How long is one’s soul with one’s body? Witchflower’s point concerned Terry Schiavo. Was her soul with her body until this morning, when she died, or had it left? Shamans would say that much of her soul was gone long before today, but that part of it was still in her body. It fits into the concepts of soul retrieval. In soul retrieval, part of one’s soul leaves after a traumatic event of some sort. That part of the soul is gone... Sign in to see full entry.
