It’s no secret to those on the path that this world is an illusion. But what may be news to some is that anytime we don’t act in love, we are adding to the illusion. Let me explain. If we lash out at someone in anger for something they have done, Ego is what brings forth the anger. If we are jealous of another, Ego leads the way. If we hate a people or a race, it’s Ego that’s in control. And Ego is the ultimate illusion. While it is an illusion, that doesn't mean that Ego is not useful. We need... Sign in to see full entry.

Very Few of Us Have Ever Experienced True Love
We all have loves in our lives: our spouses, our children, our parents, our friends. And we all have had (and if we’re lucky, we still have) that one amazing love that rivals no other. But guess what? There is one love that very few of us have experienced that truly rivals no other: the unadulterated, unconditional love of the Divine. Yes, I know. Many of you are saying, “But you are wrong Sannhet. I love “God” with all of my heart.” And you may. And many of us do. But for most of us, even the... Sign in to see full entry.

Chaos in the Aftermath of Katrina Shows We've Forgotten Who We Truly Are
As I watch the news and see the devastation of New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, I am saddened. Of course, I am saddened by the loss of life and by the destruction of property. But I am also saddened by what we have forgotten. I am saddened that we have forgotten our divinity. I am saddened that we have forgotten our “oneness”. News of looting pains me. We are stealing from ourselves. But it’s not just the destruction of the gulf coast states that shows our forgetfulness. There... Sign in to see full entry.

What if We All Actually Understand "God", But Claim Ignorance?
What if each of us truly understands “God”? What if deep down inside we each know exactly what “God” is telling us, but we claim ignorance when asked? Keirkegaard said as much. He said that the New Testament was actually very simple and easy to understand, but if we admitted to understanding it, we would have to act accordingly. Those words are not surprising, coming from an Existentialist. But what if he is right? Can you imagine what that would mean to your life? It would mean that you have to... Sign in to see full entry.

Give Rise to That Found Within You, Or it What You Don't Have Will Kill You
Those familiar with the New Testament will recognize the following from the ASV: neither shall they say, Lo, here! or, There! for lo, the kingdom of God is within you. This statement is from Luke 17, verse 21. It’s Yeshua’s response to the Pharisees asking when the kingdom would come. He’s telling them that waiting is useless, because the kingdom is already here. It is inside each of us. This is, of course, a pretty subversive statement. At its core, it tells us that we do not need others to... Sign in to see full entry.

Living Yeshua's Example Makes Us Beacons of His Message
As a follower of Yeshua, who tries to be an example for what he taught, I believe I am striving for what he is referring to in statement 32 of the Gospel of Thomas. In it, Yeshua says: “A city built and fortified atop a tall hill cannot be taken, nor can it be hidden.” I see this statement as one of spiritual maturity as well as one of living by example. When I went through training in Reiki, I learned that spiritual, healing energy comes into a person through the head. For those familiar with... Sign in to see full entry.

Since You Are I, You Who Are Myself
One of my favorites - Once a man came and knocked at the door of his friend. “Who are you?” asked his friend. “It is I,” he replied. The friend said, “Go away! This isn’t the time to enter! There’s no place at a table like mine for the one Who’s not been cooked in the fire of true gnosis.” Apart from the fire of absence and separation What’ll cook the raw or free the uncooked from fraud? The poor man went away and for a whole year of travel and absence He was burnt utterly by the flames of... Sign in to see full entry.

If You Do Not Fast From the World, You Will Not Find the Kingdom
“If you do not fast from the world, you will not find the kingdom.” - part of saying #27, Gospel of Thomas. This statement is akin to yesterday’s. But there’s not a lot of interpretation needed for this one. On the surface, it seems pretty clear. If you don’t abstain from what is offered in this world, you will not find access to the spiritual realm. But how can we do this? How can we, with a family, with work, with social activities keeping us all busy, how can we possibly fast from the world?... Sign in to see full entry.

This Life is Transitory
This life that we live is transitory. It’s transitory because it is a short stay on a very long journey. It’s transitory because it is temporary. It’s transitory because it is an illusion. The things that we attach ourselves to are not real. Since they aren’t real, it makes no sense to become attached. And yet, for some of us, these attachments become our gods. Our lives center around these illusions, we worship these illusions, and in return they rob us of the ability to become aware of who we... Sign in to see full entry.

Unification Means Light and Life, Division Means Darkness and Death
“Therefore I say that if one is unified one will be filled with light, but if one is divided one will be filled with darkness.” This is part of a saying from the Gospel of Thomas (#61) and it refers directly to the concept of dualism, according to Ron Miller in his book, The Gospel of Thomas – A Guidebook for Spiritual Practice. I agree with him. Dualism is the state of doubles or opposites. There is up and down, black and white, light and dark. In theology it’s the concept of good versus evil.... Sign in to see full entry.
