Successful blogging…

starts with putting down your thoughts and keeping at it until you find an audience. It may not be the one you thought you’d get, but your audience is out there. All you have to do is keep plugging away until it finds you. I remember when I first joined Blogit. After forking over the membership fee... Sign in to see full entry.

Worth mentioning, part 2

Nine categories regularly place two or more blogs in Blogit’s Top 100. At least this is what I found for the seven day period from March 23 through March 29. I was hoping for a “Top 10,” but no such animal exists at the present time. In fact, only 17 different categories cracked the Top 100 for even... Sign in to see full entry.

It’s worth mentioning.

Poetry, as a category on Blogit, occupied 46 spots on the Top 100. I think this is a new all-time high. I say “think,” ‘cause I no longer track these things every single day. It’s possible that Poetry has hit 46 or more before on days when I wasn’t around, or was around and not paying any attention.... Sign in to see full entry.

It shall pass.

Poetry now occupies 45 spots in Blogit’s Top 100. That amounts to one more spot than the seven next most popular categories put together, and more than four times as many spots occupied by the other eight categories in the Top 100 for March 26, 2008. Perhaps more disturbing is the fact that on this... Sign in to see full entry.

A couple of quick observations

That’s right, no boring analysis this morning. I will note, however, that Everything Else has fought its way back into the accustomed position of challenger to Journal as the second most popular category on Blogit. It appears that the precipitous drop in popularity of EE noted three weeks ago was,... Sign in to see full entry.

Same old, same old – sort of

It’s been a while since I’ve done one of my category popularity rankings. Mainly, I simply haven’t had time to do them on a regular basis. On top of that, it had become apparent that the same six categories dominated the Top 100 day after day, week after week, and month after month. Today, for no... Sign in to see full entry.

Did anyone else lose money on Valentine’s Day?

According to the Blogit update on the 14th I was minus 55 cents for the day. Was it the correction of a glitch in the system? Or was it just something unique to my account? I can say it was totally unexpected. There was an unanticipated spike upward in my earnings on the 11th, so I’d been waiting... Sign in to see full entry.

I hate to waste research.

I just stumbled across notes from mid-January that I never got around to using. It somewhat compliments my last post. What follows is a list of the eight most popular categories in Blogit since day one when it was called The Blogging Network. The number following the name of each category is the... Proving a point.

I haven’t had the time to blog every single day since my latest return to Blogit. But I have had the time to do a quick copy and paste of the Top 100 each day for further analysis. This morning I had a chance to put them all together and take a look at a more detailed and meaningful picture of how... Sign in to see full entry.

I’m so embarrassed!

I thought I’d posted this late last night/early this morning. I don’t know if it’s incompetence, forgetfulness due to age, or both. Anywho, here goes try number two (heh, heh): Blog your passion, your knowledge and, most of all, have fun. In a nutshell, my philosophy of blogging is as follows: Blog... Sign in to see full entry.

Great Caesar’s Ghost! There are 37 Poetry blogs in the Top 100!

Holy Cow, Batman, for good measure. A few months ago I retired this blog for a while. I expect to send it back into retirement soon. But first I thought I’d make a few pertinent observations about what little I know about blogging on Blogit. Since I first signed on a little over four years ago, six... Sign in to see full entry.

It was fun while it lasted, but I’m done…with this blog. You didn’t think I was going to give up blogging on Blogit did you? Actually, I quit posting to this blog 30 days ago. I made a single post after my return to the fold following a five and a half month absence. The post was made on a late... Sign in to see full entry.

Blogging naked liberating. Not tonight. I'm actually online right now -- which means I'm at my son's house using his phone line. But I was so occupied night before last. It was so damned hot I was more comfortable stripped down. There! Something else you really didn't want to know about. Sign in to see full entry.

Paths Not Taken

It has occurred to me since my return to the neighborhood that much has changed around Blogit. I’m not talking about the comings and goings of bloggers, though the many new members encourage me that this place will be here well into the future. Similarly I’m saddened by the absence of so many... Sign in to see full entry.

A couple of quickies:

From the 12-28-06 Update: 1. Journal (25, #1) 2. Poetry (15, #10) 3. Everything Else (14, #4) 4. Opinion (11, #2) 5. Humor (11, #5) 6. Religion & Spirituality (9, #9) 7. News & Politics (4, #7) There are two things worth noting about the ranking above. It contains only seven categories because no... Sign in to see full entry.

Partial ranking

What follows is a ranking of the nine categories that placed two or more blogs in the Top 100 as of the December 27 th update. There is not much new here. Journal is hanging out by itself, well ahead of the rest of the pack, as it has since Christmas Eve. Poetry is holding position but losing ground... Sign in to see full entry.

Two significant changes in the world of Blogit.

Well, maybe not really so significant except for the rankings of the most popular categories I’ve been doing for the last two and a fraction months. And neither was unanticipated. I correctly called the growth of categories represented in the Top 100. After bottoming out at just 13 categories in the... Sign in to see full entry.

No ranking for you!

Not today, anyway. I’m more involved with the meaning of Christmas and the Christmas spirit than I am with the mechanics of blogging or any kind of ranking. My plan was to give everyone a little gift that I could afford. Something free for you that was also free to me, of course, since that is... Sign in to see full entry.

Where do we blog?

This little exercise in ranking categories has about run its course. A time or two I’ve pointed out that at any given time not much more than a handful of categories seem to draw most of our bloggers’ attention. Because of the rise and fall of fads It takes at least a few weeks for it to become... Sign in to see full entry.

Flip-flops = 2 up and 2 down.

This includes a change at the top. Yassah, yassah, Poetry flipped back to the top spot while Journal flopped down to #2 after a couple of dead heats that necessitated the use of the tiebreaker to separate them. The other flip-flop was between On Blogging and Nonfiction well down the list. But it was... Sign in to see full entry.
