I thought the same thing when I first started here.  I even maintained two fiction blogs at the same time for a while, posting shorter pieces in the second.  But even shorter works drew little attention unless they were short enough to be read very quickly.  One guy did well here for a while with posts that were really nothing but short prose outlines of what might have been decent stories.  I still post to Fiction every once in a great while if I can keep it pretty short.

Thanks, sam
Although I won't be indulging in much research like this for quite a while with college basketball still going strong and baseball just getting started.  Gotta follow my Tigers and Heels!

Thank you, Soul_Builder
The bloggers who really amaze me are the ones who maintain several blogs and manage to keep most of them in the Top 100 on a continuing basis.  I find it hard to imagine putting that kind of effort into it day after week after month.

Interesting!

I find that even when I do update my fiction blog regularly, it never gets the readership or comments that the other posts do, especially the journal. The length would make sense...perhaps fiction would be more popular if people posted their stories in small chunks.

When I first started this site, I thought it was driven more towards the fiction side of writing--I've since learned that stories are only a small part of the community here!

Pretty good analysis! Some bloggers are in multiple categories yet have a 'star' blog!
