Disorientation

My long absence has been enforced by lack of facilities and pressure of work. Now that both are fixed, for the moment, I can reflect on my sorry situation. Why does a sensible, mature woman get into such a fix? I could never have guessed things would become so very muddled. What I need to do is to... Sign in to see full entry.

Bouncing off Ariel70

Considering how we both see the writing potential in every situation - in common with all writers I'm sure - I hope that my blogit friend is wondering what I was doing with an allen key. I was putting together a portable clothes-rack, or robe as it's called here, and having quite a time of it. I was... Sign in to see full entry.

Childhood in a dressing-gown

Another little cameo which I hope you will like.. Childhood in a dressing-gown. It is becoming quite wintry in the Antipodes, so I went shopping for a warm dressing-gown. I came home with a deep jade fleece with a shawl collar and silk ribbon trim; not especially attractive, very old-fashioned, but... Sign in to see full entry.

Sudden shift

A lot can happen in eleven days. I moved myself and my things out of the house, and am living moment to moment just now. Plays havoc with the creative impulse, I find. After several days without a network I am enjoying reading other people's work, and I'll be ready to participate a bit more when I... Sign in to see full entry.

Finding my metier, if not my metre..

Writing is part of my life, and blogit is a place to try new things. Until I find my feet, I'll stick with "Everything Else", with occasional poetry, and can anyone tell me how to cut and paste my work into an entry without it double-spacing itself? That aside, I'd describe my writing style mostly... Sign in to see full entry.

With apologies to James Joyce

By way of explaining my heading I have pasted Joyce's poem below; my own efforts are below that, with a little help from C G Jung and myth - but not much. It might be something that develops later. I should probably explain the prompt behind this. I wrote it not long after getting off the phone,... Sign in to see full entry.

Nail salon synchronicity

Chatting with my neighbour at the nail bar - as you do - I became aware of a song on the CD in the background... " I will follow him.. " I asked her if she could remember the film it came from, and we tried to think of it, and couldn't. Eventually, between us and the lady at the far end of the nail... Sign in to see full entry.

Metaphor

Sunday. In the mid-morning You say we will go out later, And you spend the day outside. I dress, get ready, wait, And potter, small chores here and there, Not really starting anything, Waiting, For you to say you are ready too. At four o’clock we leave. I marked time all day, Finishing nothing. We... Sign in to see full entry.

Second poetry effort

Sipping coffee in the park, I miss you today. I watch the graceful ibis strutting, scratching, So quiet beside the loud chatter of two girls Not listening to each other and shrieking "Oh my God!" as each recounts her conquest. The noise is too much, I finish and leave, And stroll across the park... Sign in to see full entry.

In the mirror

Thought I'd try a little poetry.. having trouble with the format but I just wanted to try it out Precious moments in the mirror, When I am dressing And you stand behind me, smiling, Fold your arms around me And sway, only a little, Kissing the top of my head, Holding my gaze in the mirror, Hypnotic,...
