Final First draught Well I’ve finally finished the first stage of the Novel. Far from happy with the ending, but anything is better than sitting and wondering. Strange how it takes over your life. the novel becomes everything. everything revolves around getting that message down on paper. I’ve always had this vision of running from the house, with the min of goods. Putting that disc in my pocket, as I run out the door. Sting to think that everything you have ever written can be put on one CD... Sign in to see full entry.

Finger almost burnt
I've decided to just stick to my little corner and not get embroiled in any other bloggs. After putting in my coments to other people's site, I've found that if someone does not dig what you say, it can run way out of control. Apart from the feeling that you want to go round and smack their stupid faces, you feel it's all a wast of time. Spring looks like realy taking it's hold on the garden, with everything growing at run away paces. The novel is reaching the point of completion, with only the... Sign in to see full entry.

Election fever.
The wonderful election is upon us, here in the leafy lanes of England. What a joy it is to have grown men and women, spout off, on how they intend to change the world. what is even sadder, is the fact that most people won’t even bother to vote. They don’t even know what voting is! Around here, they are so inbreed, that people seen walking upright and not dragging their knuckles on the floor, are seen as dangerous outsiders. Maybe Tony and his friends, are aiming their campaign at these people.... Sign in to see full entry.

Move over Rover
Move over Rover! So it looks like the Rover car firm has gone the way of all British manufacturing, and finally closed. There is a part of me that says: sure, let them face up to market forces, and the big bad world. But once out there, they could not last. If I was to make this computer in England, and ship it to the other side of the world, it would cost me 2 to 3 thousand pounds. You can import the same thing from China, and sell it for 200! How can they possibly compete? The fact is, they... Sign in to see full entry.

Closure on Stalin
Watched a TV play called Arckangel, by Robert Harris the other week. One interesting thing he came out with, was that the Germans managed to come to terms with the Nazi era, through the Nuremburg trials. The Russians have not been able to face Stalin, because they have never had any mirror held up to them. No one has ever said, this was all wrong. These people were monsters and you should feel ashamed. Sure, they will never face any punishment, or the full force of any legal system. But... Sign in to see full entry.

Catholic Rules
I notice in the paper, there's a lot of crits against the Vatican and it's wonderous ways. One thing people find hard to beleive, is it's stance on sex, and the baggage it brings with it. First, they don't want you to do it. Second, they want you to do anything other than open a packet of three. Maybe shoot into the bushes! Third, once the dirty deed is done, you are stuck with it. Like it or not. Now, I might be being a little harsh here, and lets look at their side of the story. People are... Sign in to see full entry.

Hyper!
Went to the doctors today. My blood presure is up, and because I'm still on the dam list, they cheque you out, every few months. When I wanted his dam help, to try and leave the factory, he didn't want to know me. More interested in the rowing! So I've got to go through the pantomime of seeing him and ending up with some tablets. What a waste of time. Had to give a refund to someone over a penguin book. I lifted the copy from an Abe site, with the desription and forgot to notice it said: signed!... Sign in to see full entry.

The Great Novel
I'm getting near the end game now, with the novel. 75,000 words already, and enough ideas to close the deal on the magic 80. After that we can fill it with all sorts of stuff to take it up to 100,000. Still havn't written the end, but got some good ideas. The next stage is to start thinking about where to sell it. I've always shired away from competitions, as I'm terrified of losing. But what the hell! what if I win? I'm made, and the agents will realy take notice. Steve Sign in to see full entry.

The Pope: Changes?
If the Pope dies, will there be big changes in the world? I doubt it. For one thing, I'm always asured by the word of Auther C Clarke. In the Rama books, he always said that if the world went through any big changes, one thing would be certain. That people would always turn to the conventional. Royalty and the Catholic church. These are constants that (although you might not agree with them) they are always there. They go on and on, and they never changes. Sure, the world might nock them about,... BBC Writing Page
If you want a good guide into writing in the Uk, you can't go wrong to find the BBc's page on writing. Type: "Writing" into their search engine on the BBc main site and see what you get. Just to confuse thing, they have divided it up into several pages, but in the end you can find what you want. Sure, most of their stuff surrounds screen plays. and mostly for the box, but you do stand a small chance if you want to get in. The thing which struck me, reading some of the sample stuff, and the... Sign in to see full entry.
