Nothing ventured As I’ve decided to simple look at writing as a therapy, I’ve had to face some home truths. One thing which has struck me, is that I’ve learned to discipline myself over the years to writing to a set of rules. Once the wall is down I have no reason to write and there for, no interest in the whole thing. I know people very kindly read these blogs, but due to the fact I have no reason to write, other than exercising the mind, I simply can’t get into it. So what have I got to lose?... Too much tech?
Too much tech? As I sit here and wonder what I should write about, I remind myself that it does not have to be any world shattering revelation that will be read by millions. Much as I would like that, the simple truth is that as a form of therapy it’s simply to get my brain world and my spirits up. So I get to wondering. What should I put down? My observations of the days events, from say the news? Or just the trivia of my working day? Sure, I’m not really bothered if this does not send a ripple... Sign in to see full entry.

Low?
Feeling a little low just latterly. Haven’t been posting much as I just don’t feel in the mood. I have so many things I should be doing, but with work wearing me down of late, I thought it best to say nothing rather than mess things up further. Have you ever felt that sometimes silence is the best option? Sign in to see full entry.

Immigration!
Immigration! With the influx of so many foreign workers flooding into the UK we now have to face some uncomfortable truths about ourselves. I work in a big supermarket, there are plenty of jobs but the locals don’t want them (in fact they don’t want to work full stop). So Polish and other Eastern European workers have flocked in to take the positions. But they have no where to live. If you ask anyone with a large property, their desire is to sell up and move to sunnier climes in the... Sign in to see full entry.

Summer time and the living is…..
Now that it looks like we might have a few days of the genuine British summer, things might be on the up. With the stupid threat of recession hanging over us all, we surely need something. Last month’s terrible figure on the economy were only saved by the fact that people can’t get over their love of spending money. If it’s one thing we are good at, it’s shopping. And there are lots of stupid things to throw it away on. Sure, if you are down on your luck and struggling to pay the bills, it’s... Sign in to see full entry.

Writing and Junk.
One thing has struck me over the past few weeks, and that is the posting up of stories. Now I have lots of stories; unfinished novels, and projects that just ran into the ground. They never got anywhere mainly because I was worried about their length. What if I could not fill a story out enough to make it 80,000 words? It would never become a novel. And the short stories were just not short enough! But thanks to the blog we can put stuff up of any length. The are literally no rules. And what’s... Sign in to see full entry.

Big Dog!
Untitled Document Take a look at this! I stumbled on it in a military site. At first I thought it was a prank thing, maybe 2 guys in suits or something. But the more you look at it the more you realise that it’s real. I think the implications for this are staggering. For here is a real robot or that could do some good in the world. Whether you agree with the war on terror or not, this would save a lot of lives on patrol. Anyone who loves sci-fi will know the implications to its uses. So without... Sign in to see full entry.

Video
Untitled Document Video Try this for size? I’ve often wondered how you could link a page into Utube and get away with it. I’m not a big lover of video, bit like allowing TV in pubs but I am attracted to the idea of having the moving picture alongside that which you are writing. The picture is awful, as it look like the guy filming it was on acid at the time, but it is my home town, about 2 miles from where I’m sitting now. Tell me what you think? Novels and Length
Novels and Length One thing I have noticed, and which has never occurred to me before, is that no story has to be the same length here on the web as in real life. Let me explain. A novel has to start at 80,000 words before a publisher will even bother looking at the first draught. So you can do the maths and say you have to divide it up into chapter of about 10-12 to make it readable. Thus giving you an average chapter length of 6 to 8 thousand words. Now this is colossal length for a web post,... Sign in to see full entry.

Someone? Wow!
I’m amazed that someone actually ready my stories and feels fit to pass remark on them. Maybe it’s only polite to reciprocate on my comments, but it feels good to know that someone has bothered themselves. Thanks. Sign in to see full entry.
