Visiting the past

I had a drive out in the car today, mainly for some Special work I'm undertaking (Magick). But also to lay to rest some ghosts. I once worked at a sheet metalwork factory, as a guillotine operator. It was hard work and left me with some issues I will never really work out. Life over took me and other things happened. But I have never forgotten the Me that came through that time. I was certainly stronger for it, but it brought another side of me out too. One I'm not very proud of. Mainly because... Sign in to see full entry.

Christmas at last.

Usually I dread Christmas, but this year it comes round with a sense of relief. With Mother being ill with the flu and the memories of one of the worst bosses I've ever know, being banished away, things started to get to me. Whether some of it came right through my own hand or not, I don't care, but we pulled through. When I look back, as a kid all I remember of Christmas were toys. In latter life all I can remember of the holiday, were hangovers! Now I don't drink at all, and don't miss it. I... Sign in to see full entry.

Preparing for the End! Only CB Radio can save us.

One thing has caught my eye on the net of late. Preppers! These are people who fear for the worst. They stock up on food and essential supplies, and arm themselves with lots of weapons. Joking aside, I think they have a point. Maybe in the states it looks inevitable, but in the UK I think we follow the rule of George Orwell. He said that there will never be a revolution in this country. Maybe some revolutionary aspects in society, like the Web. And people will have revolutionary moments in their... Digital memories

Just watched a small piece about a guy who doesn't want to lose the memories of his family life. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/click_online/9652119.stm This is similar to what I try and do but we of course, don't have old films of us playing in the garden etc. In fact we have very little in the way of photos at all. We were never a photo family. Never having a camera or the will to keep records of events we would all rather forget, means that there are few real memories of those times.... Advertising v donations

I've often been tempted to try and make money on-line by using sites to make commissions and click-through-sales. You know all the in's and out's of it, so I won't go on here. But many sites simply use a donation button. I think he principle is that if people feel you are doing a good job and offering something worth while to the web, they will encourage you. Many of the best UFO sites I've seen, simply work with donations, so the site is not littered with banner adds, in the hope you will click... Sign in to see full entry.

Video Blogging

I'm often tempted to make a video blog or turn some of my other blogs into video ones. Why? Well, laziness has a big part to play in it. But sometimes I wonder if I would not pour my heart out to a camera a little more. Although what the hell I've got to say escapes me. The reasons stopping me are several fold. One is that I would be worried about submitting them to YouTube and the like. What if my old friends or work colleges saw them and reacted in a negative way? I'm less worried about the... Update front the Front

Nothing much has happened, so I've left it alone for a while. I feel it's a bit of an insult to just fill up the pages of my blogs with rubbish. Like many people I use writing as a form of therapy, to try and stop me decending into the blues. I've been toying with video blogging, as I watch Youtube constantly and many people seem to pour their hearts out there. Not sure if it's the right thing to do? I don't want people in the Supermarket confronting me with why I slagged them off on-line! But... Sign in to see full entry.

Affiliates and web sites

I was toying with the idea of using blog sites like this and Wordpress pages to make a series of websites. Triond is a favourite, but one thing struck me. You have little control of this stuff, and there is a big worry about getting paid. When you read the Triond forum, people have nightmare stories about getting what they are owed. At least here on Blogit you always get paid! But I would feel more in-control if i called the shots when it came to a click-through link. Some blog sites simply... Sign in to see full entry.

Affiliate Ideas

One thing has just struck me! Instead of riding on the back of a subject, why not go straight to the source and write a site about the one thing I'm obsessed with at the moment? Making money with affiliates and commissions? Years ago I did a page on here, called Writers Wanted. It did Ok but the mistake I made, was that I pitched it at people who wanted to write first. The truth is, that people just want the money, they don't want to have to work for it. So you will get the traffic if you just... Sign in to see full entry.

Ezine Articles

One thing has struck me of late. I often use Ezine Article as a site where I put my stuff. Mainly becuase it ranks so high and gets so much traffic. I have over 4,000 hit on some of my modest works. And of course I don't earn a penny off that. Which draws me to one curious point: how do people make money from it and what is it really for? One thing you can do is never write an article yourself, but simply make a web site and fill it up with other people's articles. They do the hard work, and you... Sign in to see full entry.
