Can you feel the happiness all around us my brothers and my sisters?

As usual, it doesn't take long before I begin chuckling to myself from reading what is written in some people's blogs. There is quite a variety of opinions concerning religion on any given day around here, but that is not what I find humorous. I get a laugh out of those who claim to have been shown... Dear God, promise me that you won't do me any more favours

If you have ever come close to death in your life, it is an experience that you will never forget, it is bound to change, or have a profound effect on most individuals. Back in the winter of 1966-67, the shack of a house that we lived in was buried in a violent snowstorm, completely buried. Before... Sign in to see full entry.

More on the Jumpin Jesus Jesuits . . . with a diagram

To really get across what transpired that Winter, a diagram is necessary. Mother nature conspired to completely bury us in snow, a result of a series of natural events that had to fall in a particular order, to create the perfect storm. In this case the perfect snowstorm. As I mentioned in the last... Sign in to see full entry.

The 6 Genius Jumpin Jesus Jesuits? >>> - no, make that 5

When we arrived at the mission school, the Tuesday following Labour Day to begin the new school year we were met with what was always wrapped up as an important and exciting announcement. Exciting and important to whom? It always meant the same thing to us, some more nutcase(s) either got chased out... Sign in to see full entry.

In fairness I must mention Father Curly - the only normal priest I ever met

at the mission school. He showed up in early Spring of 1967, I remember the image as he first walked across the playground at recess, carrying 2 large overstuffed dufflebags and wearing a backpack. He knew nothing about what he was walking into, he was not a misfit as all the other priests seemed to... Sign in to see full entry.

Then there was Dinky Dolsen the daft diddler

Probably the only reason I remember Father Dolsen's name is because we laughed at him for years after he departed. He would have been a misfit in any social setting, to the Catholic Church he was an embarrassment. That is the sole reason that we, as students of the mission school, were graced with... Then there was Sister Noguyforme

I don't remember her real name either, though I think it was Sister Marie. In a lot of ways, when I characterized her, she became an amalgamate of several other young nuns. They came and went with such frequency that keeping track of them all was impossible. With the mission school having an... Sign in to see full entry.

How the Injuns made me a better person

You may all remember my mother superior, the mission school dictator and part time holy woman. She gave up her life to dedicate it to God. In laters years there was no other way to describe her than as one sorry old bitch. We quickly shortened that assessment to just "stunned bitch" solely because... Sign in to see full entry.

Are you guilty of promoting disdain and prejudice towards others?

If you are a believer in a traditionally defined God and a member of an established religion, the odds are that you do in fact promote disdain and prejudice towards others. It is inherent in most religious messages and my single biggest beef with all religious doctrine. In most religious messages... Sign in to see full entry.

Darwin's Theory of Relativity or BTWA=BSILD'

Charles Darwin lay in his cabin bunk aboard the HMS Beagle thinking of ways he could piss everyone off. "I know" he thought "I'll start a global crime spree by making up some outlandish theories"... feeling smug and confident of success in his insidious planning, he drifted off to sleep. While...
