Few days ago the Tiger Mother author made the rounds of talk shows: The View, Joy Behar, CNN, etc... This writer says she didn't allow playdates or sleepovers, no grade less than an A was acceptable, no backtalk. The children had music lessons, were constantly pressured to be the best they could be,... Sign in to see full entry.

House Dreams...
Every once in a while I dream about a house. Different houses almost every time. Exploring the houses, buying them, remodeling them, acting as host and showing them to friends (dream friends whom I know and love, but in life have never met). Some are big cavernous things with lots of stairs and... Sign in to see full entry.

Re: Kabu's comment -- E-books are one thing
April L. Hamilton talks about in her Indie Author Guide... e-books, or POD (print on demand) like the Waltzing With Zombies book that I listed on Amazon in '09, are a major part of the independent or self-published game. I kinda got sidetracked with other things today, so haven't read any more of... Sign in to see full entry.
Indie Publishing
Writer April L. Hamilton says indie authors are the wave of the present, (we don't have to wait for the future). What with the web and other technology we no longer have to wait for one of the big boys to decide our novels are worth their time. We can find a POD or online publishing service and go... Punksatoni Phil may not see his shadow
I know I misspelled punksatoni - apologies to the grammar cops. Found out this morning that my little town is in a fringe area on the color coded weather map. Depending on shifts in the wind and the vagaries of fate, we could be smack dab in the area marked "blizzard warning" by the Weather Channel.... Sign in to see full entry.

Needlework Weather...
And me all out of thread. The next two or three days are perfect weather for staying in the big comfy chair with a crochet hook and a ball of yarn, making scarves or afghans or something warm and fuzzy. I'll not repeat the forecast, thinking about it tends to harsh my mellow. But I am hoping and... Sign in to see full entry.

Just another sunny day in Paradise...
Yesterday I wrote a blog. Didn't like the tone of it. Deleted. Before I could come up with something halfway interesting, son Joe called. Has some stuff for his dad that came in the mail to his house. He's stopping by Guy's & will bring it over. More bills to pay, etc. for the boys' dad. He hung... Sign in to see full entry.
I was feeling sorry for myself, winter has overstayed its welcome
And then things went sour in Tunisia and Egypt, and when I saw what those poor bastards are dealing with I decided it was time to stop whining. No tanks and riots on my street, yet. Until then, I don't really have a problem. I'm not looking forward to the ice storm coming to the Midwest on Monday.... Sign in to see full entry.

Still shaking my head over that one...
Ten days ago Jean called to say her tooth was killing her and the pain meds had made her sick as a dog. She was agitated and ticked off, mad at the world. I get that way when my teeth ache. So I listened. and listened. Few days later she called again, still complaining but better. Can't understand... Sign in to see full entry.

A true miracle...
The phone rang. Caller ID showed it was my doctor, and not the GP, but the heart guy. Oh-oh! Turns out it was Angie and the news was worse than I'd anticipated. No, it wasn't a medical problem -- there'd been a mixup of some kind in the insurance claim they'd submitted for my December checkup. It... Sign in to see full entry.
