In our early teens we take hesitant steps into the women's circle, learn the myths and mysteries of womanhood. Our bodies change, we hate or love them depending on the angle of sunlight and what we see in our mirrors. From a steady way of being we transition into a volatility we don't quite... Northern Lights - and not the good kind
Had a spell yesterday of vision flashes, accompanied by a "singing" headache. I have tinnitis much of the time, a kind of buzzing background static in a high pitched tone. I used to believe those spells were caused by food allergies. The first ones came after I went off Prozac in the early '90s when... Sign in to see full entry.

New Lyrics to a Holiday Standard...
Snowplows scrape, are you listening? At St. B's, snow is glistening A beautiful sight? A terrible blight - they're clearing off the winter wonderland. Twenty-two, that's the temp, dear. Don't try to fly without some reindeer to carry your sleigh a half-world away to sunny shores and beaches of white... Sign in to see full entry.

Four Degrees of Separation...
The Weather Channel predicted a low of 9 degrees F. last night, with clear skies. The slightest breeze would set the feels-like temp to minus zero... At four or so I woke up, couldn't go back to sleep. The low was only 13, although at dawn it sometimes drops a bit lower. Looked out the back window -... Sign in to see full entry.

Now is the winter of our discontent...
whether it be nobler in the mind to suffer the arrows of outrageous weather or to sprinkle salt to melt the ice and shovel away the slush, to risk falling on my arse, too far from the phone to dial 911, with all the neighbors gone to work, no mamas dropping kids at St. B's across the street because... Day of Beauty
I learned when I was twelve to keep my fingernails very short. Goes without saying, I also had to keep my hands clean. You can understand the cows did not want anyone grabbing hold of their teats with sharp nails. We had the machines to do the main job, but Sam always stripped the last few ounces by... It's a small universe...
Even before November first I was thinking its high time I got into the business end of the writing game. It's not enough, I'm thinking, to just write the stories and share them with other writers on Blogit and in the group. I need to get into the marketing end. Holy Serendipity, Batman! I get to my... The art and science of gifting
Well, the deadline's here: the one I dread all year, do I gift card or buy the actual toy, a package of fun, an expression of joy? For the young: electronics, but which game to they crave? Why risk buying the one they already have? New socks or mittens might make them cry, clothes are no fun. Don't... Sign in to see full entry.

Good day at the Library
Our volunteer group is collecting for two groups in need: every November we ask patrons to donate canned goods or non-perishable foods for out local food pantry. In return, they get a free book. We clear our shelves for new (to us) merchandise and the food pantry gets a little help. This year... Sign in to see full entry.
