I have thought for a long time that Jag laughs! Not at my jokes - he merely turns up his eyes at them. But when he is pleased about something, for example when I massage his neck, scratch the top of his head or behind his ears, and when give him a ‘foot massage’, an activity I have explained before,... Living with Jag: A Brief Rant…
A few days ago we had a warm mild day not quite as cold as before, which must have caused a dog owner to have a heat stroke – unless he was one of those permanently demented ones who always allow their dogs to hang their heads out the window while driving our highways and byways. There he was,... Sign in to see full entry.

Living with Jag: Invisible Leashes and a Shot of Adrenalin…III
Being followed by a wolf, I had to consider the possibility that there wasn’t just one wolf, but that there might be a pack in the woods around us… The reason for that thought was that generally wolves do not track potential prey on their own, but involve the whole pack. Yet I also know they are shy... Sign in to see full entry.

Living with Jag: Invisible Leashes and a Shot of Adrenalin…Part II
I don’t know what made us look back the way we had come almost simultaneously, but we did, and there he was – frozen, at a right angle to the trail, virtually spanning it and staring at us – a wolf… He was magnificent! Lean, taller than a German shepherd, with the large head of a male, and this head... Sign in to see full entry.

Living with Jag: Invisible Leashes and a Shot of Adrenalin…
As I often do, for his evening walk I took Jag into the woods tonight. I had been out most of the day and when I got back at around four he was raring to go and especially happy that there would be a ride in the car. These are fairly extensive woods, five miles or so to the north of us, interspersed... Sign in to see full entry.

Living with Jag: Lying around, strategically…
Like most dogs I have known, when he’s in the house Jag lies around a lot. Not on a couch - the couches are strictly off-limits - but on the floor. As I do, as a matter of fact, something we will get to later, in due course… Some of you may recall that Jag is a dr dog, that is to say he is deflected... Sign in to see full entry.

Living with Jag: The Question…
The time has come to write about nice things again for a change, and I can’t think of anything nicer at the moment than my doggie, Jag. Don’t expect much drama here, as you might when reading about Adnohr’s pooches, if indeed the term ‘pooch’ is applicable to her…her…what’s the collective for dogs?... Sign in to see full entry.

Naut’s Fabulous Pesto Aioli
After a comment I made on one of Darson’s blogs, where I mentioned that I make my own pesto, she asked me for the recipe. As always, I am happy to comply, but there is no reason why I should not share this recipe with all my readers, so here it is. Now, I am sure Italian pesto recipes are as old as... Is it just me?
I know there are important problems in this world, a vast array of ‘em – why then does it bug me when people, even media types who should definitely know better, prattle on not just about the new year, but the ‘new decade ’? These must be the same people who still believe the 20 th century ended at... Sign in to see full entry.

Living with Jag...
It’s morning, the blinds are still down and, propped on an elbow, I am reading by the light of the lamp on my bedside table. And then, out of the corner of my eye, I notice a large black paw inching its way across the sheet… Someone said once that you don’t just marry a woman, you choose a way of...
