Wolves are curious, and very rarely dangerous when alone. Were you wearing a red hood, Nautikos?

I would think you would not want to cut his hair until warmer weather.  Doesn't he need a winter coat right now?    I'm afraid that a wolf on a trail would spook me.  He would immediately smell fear in the air.  LOL

Jag is adorable !  and I would not give him  a haircut... all those curls will keep him warm :-).  He looks so beautiful there in your woods.  I can't even imagine what  it would be like to live in a place like that all the time... so dreamy ... if I am sure cold Brrrrrrrrr .  I am visiting my daughter in Englewood.  Last night it snowed all night and this morning I woke up to a magical view... Oh my gawd Naut it is so beautiful... Like waking inside a Christmas card.  There are no wolves here that I know but I have seen other years black bears wondering about... That encounter with the wolf was scary , and do not bother denying it,  I bet you were shaking in your boots when you confronted your loner, and not from the cold... Please be more careful !!!  Can't you carry a wistle or a horn or something to scare him off ?  Jag would be a tasty morsle for  your new friend so please keep him on that leash!  Gawd you have given me plenty to have nightmares  about :-(  but I do envy you that view and that adrenaline rush :-)  Be well and keep warm  xoxoxo

You poor city slicker....We have wolves around us all the time here; we look at them, they look at us and then...we both take our own direction, he(she) goes left, we go right or vice-versa. And it's not because of our dog: he just look at them too!

Nautikos
That is one handsome dog. We need to see a more close up of him. That was a strange happening. I read both these posts and I am not sure what I would have done. I can assure you I would not have been so brave.

Very fine photos of your dog...A strange game that wolf played with the two of you. Thankfully the story ended well.

wow this is the kind of trail I long to walk
and with snow on the ground it must be nice and cold. :) You were very smart in the way you hadled the wolf. I dont know what I would have done. I took my daughters dog for a walk on a trail and she is half wolf, but she kind of looks like a coyote. But still if a wolf were to follow us I would panic I fear. I almost stepped on a snake once, but that nearly gave me a heart attack. GREAT STORY :)
