A dull weekend

It's been a very quiet weekend. I've been doing a lot of movie watching--first The Italian Job, them Almost Famous. I wonder what I'll watch next. We;ve been promised since August that our sagging staircase would be fixed, and they're finally starting to make good on the promise. Over the past 180 years (the building was built in the 1820s) the house has settled so much that it's begun to cave in the middle--which is why the floors are so slanted in the same direction in our apartment and why... I'm stuck. Help me!!

So, I've been doing this job search for about five months now. I swear, I'm an expert on how to find a job. The only problem is--I don't actually have a job myself! I've been doing everything I possibly can--networking, etc.--but nothing is turning out. I've even considered looking for jobs in other industries. Its occasions like these...

That make me proud to call myself a Randolph-Macon Woman. Tonight I attended a Town Meeting and Reception with Wine And Cheese (their words, not mine) for alumnae from my college from the New York area. They've been having these receptions around the country in areas where there are a high volume of alumnae, to discuss the topic of the college going co-ed, among other things. Many, many people are worried about this subject and these meetings are a kind of PR move for the college. This... Sign in to see full entry.

Thanksgiving... already?

I bought my train ticket to go home for Thanksgiving. I'll be at home for four days--from the Tuesday then 21st through Saturday the 25th--so hopefully I'll miss the rush. Travelling around the Thanksgiving holidays are a mess. When I was in college we used to get out the day before, Wednesday, and have to be back at school on Monday bright and early for classes. So, we were travelling on the two busiest days of the year. One great thing about being unemployed this year at around this time of... Sign in to see full entry.
