Today my sister called me crying

The dog I grew up with, Henry, is, as I've said, not doing well. He has seizures that leave him dazed and confused. Last night he had two of them in a row. My mom, who was out in Arizona, took a plane straight back to Pennsylvania to be with Henry. We have plans to put him to sleep sometime next week. We were hoping that he'd last through the New Year; but after last night's episode it's clear that he's in too much pain to last even that short of a time. I called my mom and asked her if we could... Sign in to see full entry.

A hunt for good winter weather footwear... a post about nothing at all...

It came to my attention a few weeks ago that I need good, weatherproof shoes for the winter. My mom had been bugging me to get a pair of said shoes, but I'd never really paid attention to her, per usual. I was the one who came up with all the ideas of things to do. Unlike Brain, I wasn't trying to take over the world; but like Pinky, my sister would follow blithely along, regardless of whether or not we got into trouble for our actions. I had some pretty stupid (albeit creative) ideas when I was younger.... Sign in to see full entry.

The apartment and more conversations with M

Work has continued on the building we live in. The contrator and the workers on the project have been really nice about it. This morning as I was leaving, one of the guys asked me if we'd been having problems with the locks on the door--ie, had they been stuck as a result of the jacking up of the house. Since we're having problems with the deadbolt on our door, the guy offered to come and fix the problem. A little thing, I know, but very courteous nonetheless. They're doing work on the basement...
