Last night, we got Pixie into a halter that is meant to attach to a leash to go for walkies Outside. I left it on her so she can get used to it. So this morning, she crept into the space between the kitchen counters and the dishwasher. The halter got hung up on something, and she was stuck! I tried to get my hand in there to unlatch the halter... It took several tries, but sitting on the floor, I was finally able to do it, and a while later, pulled the halter out without a cat in it. But after... Sign in to see full entry.

Clock-watching
It is 8am as I start this post. I am watching for 11, when the next round of Jan 6 Committee Hearings come on. Charlie will be over to watch with me. From what's been previewed about this session, it will be explosive. Have you seen the new pictures coming in from the Webb space telescope? Our minds can take in what it is told about the size of the universe, about the numbers of galaxies, but the information is really truly anchored when we see it! Between one thing and another, we do indeed... Sign in to see full entry.

The fever has broken...
I have no doubt, though, that it will return. Still after several days in the 90s, I am so looking forward to a day that will not, according to Them, reach 80. Winds up to 20mph, thunderstorms, and lovely coolth--sounds great to me! But I'd better batten down a few things before the wind blows in. There isn't much going on here that isn't what usually is going on. I haven't written lately because there has not been much to write about. But I will try to dredge some stuff out of my over-heated... Sign in to see full entry.

Return to the mellow morning
Last night the neighbors were firing off 'cannons' in the street. Happily, Pixie was not particularly bothered by them. I went to bed some hours before they stopped, and ran the fan to help smooth over the noise. Also, played "distant thunderstorm" at higher than usual volume, to also provide a little mental context for the sudden, assaultive cracks and bellows. All's quiet this morning, but I know it isn't over yet. It never ends, there are always leftovers to fire off in the coming weeks.... Sign in to see full entry.

The Fourth of July inevitables
Very glad I am--and others around the neighborhoods--that there has been, and is forecast to be more rain! The self-important little karens who hold themselves above the law and community will fire off their proud bang-flashers with no regard for anyone, even tell themselves they are providing a wonderful show for the neighbors. That their residue might set houses on fire, terrify pets and veterans, even wild birds frightened to death... Nothing is more important than their own amusement. Rant... Sign in to see full entry.

Gateway to Weekendings
Friday morning... cool, sunny morning expected, with thunderstorms possible in the afternoon. There was a bit of that yesterday, followed by a nice soaking 'female' rain. Charlie is off to another convention, FanCon up in Denver. We went to that one last fall and the parking was terrible! The venue is in a neighborhood it took me an hour or more one time to go around the block to renew my streetside parking space. My unfamiliarity with the area, un-gridly streets, wrong-way streets, odd... Sign in to see full entry.

Wordling
Here it is Wednesday already! Well, everywhere, I guess, that uses the same calendar. It's sunny and cool for now, expecting heat later, and again they tease with the promise of thunderstorms. I am hoping for plenty of wet before July 4th when the self-indulgent scoff-laws will be firing off their personal fire-works shows. This will happen despite the city officially declaring it illegal this year. They have begun already, as they always do. So far, Pixiechops shows no concern over the big... Sign in to see full entry.

Grey days, bickering, and procrastination
Waking to another grey day, now and then gently raining... Nothing dramatic at the moment. This parched area is glad of the rain, both the heavy and the light! It looks like the week ahead will be a great drought-fighter! I hear birds bickering not far away. Magpies shouting, vs some smaller, more melodic singer. Pixie is at the back door quietly staring at the squirrel on the feeder. I saw two doves on it at the same time yesterday, and in the evening, a couple of house finches. They, like the... Easy Saturday
Looks like a delightfully cool day ahead, with an afternoon and evening promising thunderstorms. It says first, isolated, then scattered, and then for most of the evening, just thunderstorms. It's just past 9:30 am, it's gusty windy, and the clouds are gathering. Temps, they say, won't get past 70 today. The squirrel is at the feeder out back, and has a dedicated observer sitting by the glass door. I've seen the doves and the house-finches there from time to time. The other day, while out and... Well, that was unexpected!
I don't know quite what was so exhausting yesterday, but I was falling asleep hours earlier than usual, and went to bed early, slept well for a good 8 hours without the sleep-aid and tylenol I usually take. I hope this is the start of a trend! Yesterday was some busy driving around in the morning and shopping at the Asia Pacific market, then dropping Charlie off at a friend's for a boffer-making session. (boffers: big padded weapons for medieval re-creation battling) Then my friend Joanne came... Sign in to see full entry.
